1A - MUC M12SB1 - BGVP DM6 - Sony L Hybrid Tips

Best cable I've used so far, though my only OFC copper purchase?

"It's kind of the best of both worlds, warm detailed bass and smooth treble."

I got it on-sale for $116 if I remember right? But I have to tell you I was very apprehensive, reading both good and bad about it. But whatever the truth was for others, it was just right in my use with the 1A and DM6.

Just middle of the road carefulness with the whole frequency range. Nothing out of place, nothing strange, nothing enhanced weird. Just a smooth clear treble and fun low, but tight bass. I’m not looking for any other DM6 cables. I was actually also concerned it would be to dark but it’s not. It’s perfect.

Your results may vary from mine.

One thing of note that didn't seem to get mentioned above: lossy compression selectively compresses higher frequencies much more than lower frequencies, since they're less audible, can sound bad on sharp equipment, won't be heard by a lot of the populace, take up a ton of the frequency spectrum but not much of the musical spectrum, et c.--since the DM6 is extremely detailed up through the high end, compression and compression artifacts will be more noticeable than most are used to. This is, of course, a separate question from the mastering, but I would guess that a lot of tracks are less carefully mastered in the highs as well for the same reasons as above, which compounds the problem.

I compared the DM6’s with FIIO X5iii and iBasso DX150, listening to “Grace” by Jeff Buckley. This is an obvious statement, but it would be very difficult to replicate the conditions for the people that say they are too sibilant... with the X5iii, yes, they are somehow sibilant... but they are very smooth with DX150, as a matter of fact, they are glorious (maybe because it is “blacker” than the X5iii?)

Sounds like I dodged a personal bullet not buying the dm6. That really doesn't sound like my kind of signature (prefer darker warmer more analogue sound) really.

You should give 'em a try and decide for yourself. You never know these days, whose opinion is utterly relevant and whose opinion is wrong or biased. And just to be clear, I'm not suggesting by any means, that the post you replied to is subjectively biased, just making a point here.

With the massive success the DM6 has rightfully earned (IMHO) in a relatively short period of time, it would only be natural to expect or assume that rivals will seek out to diminish their fame. And it would probably be naive to think it doesn't / didn't happen.

So give them a try before you jump to conclusions

Just my 2¢
