Wow! It is incredible to think that these would be better than (or even comparable to) some top headphones for that price! I look forward to hearing more impressions when you get the chance to listen to them some more!

Why the DT911 and DT931 are not collectable is beyond me. To me, they are much better than the Qualia, L3000, HP1. I'd love to compare them side-by-side with the HD800.

Next, I want to hear the T1!

Wow, now you've really peaked my curiosity. Now I'm going to have to keep an eye out for a pair...

I thought the 931 was just a slight variant on the DT990. No?

The DT990 from the late 80s was replaced with the DT911 in 1990-1991 as their top of the line. In the late 90s it was replaced by the DT931 to be the top model. In the early 2000s the DT931 was replaced by the 2003 DT880 and DT990, and so on.

The DT911 and DT931 to me sound better balanced than the current DT990 (which, to vary degrees depending on impedance, has emphasized bass, recessed mids, emphasized top octave treble) and current DT880, which is the closest to these old models but doesn't sound as immediate in the mids or open and clean on top and is leaner in the bass.

Another difference between the DT911 and DT931 is soundstaging. Through the DT931 the soundfield sounds more expansive with greater depth. In direct comparison the DT911 sounds smaller and flatter.

The DT770-80 ohm are really nice for low-punchy bass, the DT770-250 ohm are much more refined and sound less relaxed, I reccomend the DT770-80 and do the "darth beyer" mod. Love my stock DT770 pro 80 though.

The DT770 Pro 80s are fun, totally inaccurate headphones, but I can't stand the recessed mids for my music

I must compare the DT911/DT931 to the DT48.. If you have a extra pair let me know.. The DT480 is also very good & not appreciated..

DT770/80. Best gaming experience. No, they're not top dog positional audio sharpshooters. They are however making games fun again. Audio should be reproduced for one reason, to be enjoyed. These things bring so much enjoyment to my ears when I'm rushing A on Atacama Desert and the tank in front of me blows up. The shellshock feels real, and the explosion rocks my socks off.

DT880s: Best headphones EVER to ever be owned by me.

I like the 770s, but to me they are bested by my m50s, and with the right amp, k271 originals (they say the mk2 is the same, but the originals were stlll made in Austria, not just "designed", and i work in an idustry that, i suppose it could be said, that procurement and fabrication are often very negotiable and it really does matter. We definitely have preferences, and for good reason, not cultural bias, a little OT, but I am happy that my k271s are an original set. Plus, with the k701 at such a good price, it only makes sense to move the k271 aside as less pro and more sumer. The Aurvana Live and the d1001 are made by the same company with the same driver, headband, baffle, etc, but the d1001 sounds a bit more refined.)

I want leather pads for my DT770s. I have tested pleather akg pads with good results. J money is not really making any right now, so for now it sucks a fat one, but I can't use them until i get pads. DT880 pads are better than the 770 pads but still, if pleather is better than a real quality set of leather pads could put my 770/pro 80s into the next level. My best open backs are my dt880s, but it would be cool to have my best closed backs be my dt770s. Anyone know any leather pads that are better than pleather until j money gets his operations back up?
