Hmm, I'm not entirely sure. Looking for a fairly good cheap one.

Idk, maybe $50 or less?

I run my pro 80s out of a PA2v2 without difficulty, but there are other cheaper, smaller, etc. amps out there that you should look at as well.

OK, I'm not very knowledgeable about amps in that price range, so others will need to help.

Any recommendations?

Also looking to use these for my 360, it has no HDMI port though. Would it be possible to plug it into the controller possibly with an adapter or something?

Hi, I'm looking for a decent/good fairly cheap amp to power the DT770's. What would be some good choices?

Also, anybody know of a good deal on the DT770 pro's?

Thanks

Hotaudio makes quality amps.

If you can find a reputable seller on Ebay, that's where you'll most likely find the best price. It's where I bought mine.

My Beyerdynamic DT 231 Pro, got them about two or three months ago, as my first Beyerdynamic headphone though, I really like the sound of these, even prefer the sound to the Sennheisers I have (HD 595).

250 Ohm vs. 600 Ohm....

I see that Skylab and others have reported that the 600 Ohm is better, but my question is; is it $150.00 better??? As it seems the stock 990's for example can be currently had from Amazon for $259.00 in the U.S. of A, while the Custom 990's from Beyer's website start at about $409.00 (without tax) for the 600 Ohm and that is before you throw in any custom colors. Seems it may be even a greater difference for the 880s.

Then just to complicate matters even more, now there is the option of the JMoney ear pads. I wonder what would sound better, the stock 250 ohm 990s or 880s with the Jmoney pads, or the 600 Ohmers? I guess to get the best you have to go the 600 Ohms plus the JMoney pads which by that time you are up to twice the price of the stock 250 Ohm models. I wonder if it is worth it?

Ahhhh...but more and more you do NOT have to go the "Manufacture" route to get the 600 ohm versions, if you don't care about the fancy cosmetic options that the Manufacture gives you.

For example, this pair of 600 ohm DT770's can probably be had for under $250. Who knows, if you call up that same vendor (who I cannot vouch for by the way, just giving examples), you might even be able to get a pair of 600 ohm 990's for the same price.

But one of the nice things about Beyers is that they scale well with mods. Recable them, better pads, 600 ohms, and maybe a little weak to what's in the housing, and you can have a SIGNIFICANTLY better headphone than the stock version.

Can anyone comment on the differences between the DT 770 Premium 600, 250 and 32 ohm versions?

I posted this out in the main headphone area, but thought you fellow Beyer lovers might be able to point me in the right direction. I used to own a pair of DT311s that my daughters destroyed, and am looking for something similar in sound that is easy to drive. Open is fine. I need soundstage, detail, etc. for a variety of music, primarily symphony orchestra stuff, plus pop/rock like John Mayer, Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, etc. This would be used both amped and unamped.

So, which Beyer? DT860? DT680? DT440?

Oops. I was wrong about the model. I actually had DT411s. I figured earlier that they had changed the foam color to orange, but I saw a pair of 411s on eBay, and that is what I had. In fact, that is what I now have again, cuz I bought them.

I will try to do some A/B comparisons to the AKG K601's and the Shure HRS840s once I get them. I also have a modified Gilmore headphone preamp to test with.
