Both the 337 and the Opera are excellent, and both drive the DT990/600 well. Since the Opera is a "warm" sounding solid state amp, and the 337 is a "detailed" sounding tube amp, the difference between them isn't all that great. Still, with the DT990's, I slightly prefer the 337.

Well and which of the two give you more bass extension and impact and an bigger soundstage and headstage and better mids? and how much is the difference VS my Arietta??

Thanks for an "detailed" answer
P.S: which is the Darkvoice homepage?

I currently have the 770/80s at the moment but want.. more

I am a total basshead, do either the 880 or 990 have more bass?? i've gone trough this thread but opinions are quite varied..

will be running on a zero if that affects anything

The 880 for sure has less bass than the 770, and, IMO, so does the 990. If you want more bass, you need a Headphile Darth Beyer - see the Headphile link on the top right...

The DT990 has a little more bass slam than the DT770pro and almost the same deep bass too (only that it is tighter and less louder in the lowest bass frecuencies (i refer to the DT990 Ed 2005)) in my honest Opinion, and in overall better quality and is more tolerant than the DT770pro to distortion in the bass. it doesn't not distort so easily when the music/record has a lot of deep bass and is louder, the same with a lot of movies.... If you have a reasonably powerful amp and of a good quality, i recommend that you buy the DT990 instead of darthing, is overall better. Yet, if you want (that already have your DT770) an more bloated bass (than the same dt770) and a lot (and intolerant) quantity of deep bass with a lot of resonance, then go for the Dark side...
Ah, and the bass in the DT990 is faster too......

An recable will be an good idea too (for bring up the mids and other improvements (i am in the search of a good cable but that doesn't cost an huge amount)). After of all, the Dt770 is an very good headphone...

just got my used 2005 880s and i couldnt wait o listen though my dac/amp arn't here yet.

1) bass is much more than was expecting, with massive attack's angel bass line being very prominent and defined. this is unamped out of a crappy laptop, too. not cold sounding at all.
2) soundstage seems hardly better than hd25's even on good recordings like chesky's.. this was a big disappointment and i really hope an amp will help. sounds like stuff is coming in from the sides and not too different widths
3) highs seem very realistic, though i cant exactly stand there listening to live music forever, yeah it is a bit fatiguing. also i cant tell the difference in the highs extension. using a sweep wave i cant really tell to far, i guess my HF hearing is fading already

4) quite comfortable but i expected like.. "pillows" as i've heard. i can def tell they're on my head, they dont 'fade away'
5) notice the air and separation, need to comapre them to my im716's though

pretty surprised both ways, but then again, need amp. the bass makes me kinda wish i went solid state instead of tube hybrid.

also, how can you tell the difference between 250 and 32 ohm?

DoomzDayz, you really cannot judge the DT880's sound based on your laptop output. That just won't drive 250 ohm cans well at all. Also, they for sure need to be broken in for 100 - 150 hours before they will sound their best.

I bought the DT880 2005's sibling after AB comparison, and since about two months I've been a happy owner of the DT880 Pro's '05. They have different soundstage than the non-Pro version, and I prefer the Pro kind of presentation.
