BeyerDynamic owners unite...

Haven't noticed this tread before. I've had the Amiron for a few months and recently purchased the DT 1990 again. And agree with most here, the DT 1990 is a very very good headphone that deserves to get more attention. It was my intention to let the Amiron go when I got the 1990, but every time I listen to the Amiron I enjoy it :grinning:. So the Amiron stays and hopefully for a long time.

Kman1211, you wrote an excellent comparison between the two, they are different but compliment each other very well.

I own Beyerdynamic DX160, and would stand behind the amazing sound, if only their cables had worked... Mine got busted in just 4 months of regular use. Reported issue to their support, but these guys seem to ignore users altogether. So, if you do own 160s, do take care of those cables

Yeah, sadly kinda went to the wayside. Ah so you have both like I do them. I do like the DT 1990 a bit more than than the Amiron overall, but I enjoy listening to the Amiron, especially when want a more lax listen or I want the extra bit of treble extension the Amiron offer. I actually use the Amiron as an in bed headphone more. Some reason I find the DT 1990 more comfortable for long sitting and gaming sessions while I find the Amiron more comfortable when laying down.

Thank you, they are definitely quite different but that does make them complimentary headphones. Some reason I'm beginning to think of slowly collecting Beyerdynamic headphones. lol.

Really nothing negative about the Z1R, just scaling back for now and taking care of some immediate family obligations. I am going to miss it but will reassess things soon and see what's next.

Makes sense, I have stopped my headphone buying for a while due to some personal financial set-backs and other obligations so I understand. So are the DT 1990's pretty much a permanent addition to your headphone stable?

I think so. It has an addictive quality and I haven't tried an open back that has beat it so far.

I have a DT990 modded with various different parts, from various manufacturers, and i like it alot. I have a Beyerdynamic T90 that i bought the past year and i like it a lot too. I i have a DT880 Chrome edition in his way to my house.
My first audiophile headphone was a Beyerdynamic too [a DT770 pro 80 (since 2007) and after a DT990 a little later, until now].
I like this brand a lot

I just got my DT770 Pro 250 Ohm yesterday. I love these headphones! The soundstage is incredible on these! I'm glad I didn't go for the 80 ohm version, because the 250 has plenty of bass!

Mhm, I technically started with Sony, but the DT 880 was my first "real" headphone. An as a throwback to it, I borrowed a buddy of mines DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm tonight, and I'm pretty impressed with it! It doesn't sound anything like what I remember... bass isn't over whelming and the top end isn't CRAZY. It does bring out the HIISSSSS in old Jazz a LOT more than anything else I own, but other wise it sounds pretty great! Sound stage though is super shallow, no real sense of depth

still pretty cool to hear these again, after 2-3 years!

How did I miss this thread?

With the DT770 Pro 32Ω, DT880 Pro 250Ω, DT1350, DT1770 Pro, DT1990 Pro, and the iDX160ie I guess I'm a fully paid up member.

If I have one gripe about Beyerdynamic, it's that their IEMs (at least the lower priced ones) don't really have that Beyer sound that I obviously enjoy.

I apologize if this question has already been answered in this thread, or elsewhere on the forums, but do the DT 770 Pro 80 ohm version seem to pair better with tube amps or solid state amps typically? Would a tube amp be able to shine with the 770s?
