beyer t70 & t70p NEW!
Jul 5, 2011 at 9:02 AM Post #136 of 623
I was happy to receive a reply to my questions about the new Tesla models from the designer of the Beyerdynamic T1, Gunter Weidemann (see http://www.stereophile.com/content/geek-talk-beyerdynamic-t1-designer-gunter-weidermann ) a couple of hours ago...

Q: From pictures, it appears that the new micro velour/gel earpads of the forthcoming T70/T70p could be installed on previous versions in the DT770/DT880/DT990 series - can you confirm if this is true?

Mr. Weidemann: The new T 70 earpads will fit the DT 770 housing in a mechanical way, but will change the DT 770´s frequency response. As the T 70 is a closed headphone, the T 70 earpads are closed either. However, DT 880 and DT 990 need open earpads, as these are semi-open/open headphones. Thus the T 70 earpads cannot be used for DT 880 and DT 990.

Q: The T70/T70p appears to be an upgraded DT770 - are there any future plans to release a T80/T80p (semi-open) or T90/T90p (open)?

Mr. Weidemann: The T 70 is a unique model to fill the gap between DT 770 and T 5 p.

Here I am, taking a few months off head-fi and then I decided, hey , I need a decent headphone for home, something for music and gaming. Did some research for an affordable headphone around 200 to 300 dollars, decided on the dt 770 600ohms and BAM! I bump into this thread and now I am saving up for this bad boy. Such is life.

Hey now Roach! I'm still rocking the HDP with a Sigma 11 PSU that I build and like it very much.

I'm also thinking of getting the T70 to replace my D5000. I use the DT1350 at work with my Dacport and they are amazing. I'm actually using them now with my tube amp and they can Rock hard. I'm hoping the T70 with the same Tesla techno should be good. It's half way to T1.
:D

Twinster,

Good to hear that the HDP is serving you well. How would you say the DT1350 are like compared to the D5000? Before you decide to sell your D5000, consider having a markl mod done to them.

Yes me too, but by this logic the T50p would also sound good.

I would hope that Beyer learned from the T50p (and maybe the T5p also) because the DT1350 are amazing (specialy since I've tried them on my home rig). Finger's are cross

Roachbro, my D5000 are MarkL mod already. I did the Pad's stuffing and the all the mod behind the back of the driver baffle. I just find the speed of the Bass on the Tesla driver to be just so good.

Still only one review and is that source reliable??? Anybody else can comment on the sound??

I wan't to preorder them but i'm not sure if  i should go for the T1/LCD2 instead...

Without any reviews I simply can't make my move!! but i need a pair fast to repair my distorting dt250.

I am also awaiting my ore-order on the T70 from the Danish distributor. They said I should not expect to receive it before end of August. I do not know if other markets gets it before Denmark? But I guess we are not the first country.

I'm probably gonna order them from Beyer directly, their distribution warehouse for the USA is only about 10 min from my house :)

I can decide on these or the Ultrasone Pro-900...
