I had the pleasure of listening to my first sets of Beyerdynamic phones today at the local agent here in South Africa

Listened to the DT20-80 and the DT150. Both great, negligable price difference.
Preferred the comfort of the DT250, seemed more comfortable and flexible.

However, they're expensive....
I'm looking at primarilly for DJ use, is the DT250 worth it for this?

The DT250-80 has a slightly warmer sonic presentation and is more forgiving of poorer source material. The DT150 comes across as more neutral in comparison with an airier, wider soundstage.

If I am not in my critical listening mood, I find it easier to relax and enjoy the music listening to the DT250.

I prefer the fit and comfort of the DT250 due to the velour pads and smaller form factor.

So since I have the hd600 and like it, would you recommend me to get the dt150 to replace the purposes of the hd600s or are they not at that level? The reason i ask this is that i want a fun and neutral closed can that sounds good for the long haul that will be a good complement to the hd600s but if it beats the 600 I might as well just keep one.

Ive heard that the dt250-250 was slightly better than the 80 ohm version. I was wondering if their differences are small compared to the dt150 vs 80 ohm dt150.

I read somewhere that the earpads of the DT250 "are a bit small and may pose a problem to big-eared users".

I've never had the opportunity to audition DT250. But I have both DT150 and HD600. I would say 150 is much more neutral, more bass "feel", and sparkling high without being sibilancy.

HD600 has advantage of being sounded "open" which some may prefer. But 150 is no sluggish in term of soundstage, transparency, and openness.

As long as your ears aren't giant you'll be ok. I assume my ears are at least medium size (I usually wear extra large hats and have a shaved head), and they fit into the DT-250's ok.

I've yet to try the DT150s, but the DT250s are very good headphones. Noise isolation is not terrific, though - you might want to try the HD25s if you want that.

With the DT-250 you need to specify 80 ohm or 250 ohm. Switching between 80 and 250 using the same amp/source/material will yield a different experience, because of the different impedances presented to the amplifier.

That said, I really like the presentation of the DT-250/80 when driven directly from my I-river H120, and also when driven by my homebrew Millett. Totally subjective, but sounds great to me

. I have the DT250s and I must say they are very enjoyable - keeps me listening to music probably more than my other phones. This is a good thing! Isn't it all about the music?

Tiemen, I read somewhere that Beyerdynamic makes velour pads for the DT 100 and that they fit the 150's. Worth looking into.

Hello, I am also interested in comparisons of the dt150 and the dt250-250... I have read a few comparisons of the dt770 and the dt150 and I think the dt150 would be better fo rme... But I have not read that much about the 150 and the 250...

I never heard the DT250.
But I owned the DT770/05 and still have DT150. I prefer the DT150 over the DT770.
DT150's bass and mids are fuller. DT770 has more/ better detail in mids and highs.
DT150 sounds powerful and warm, where the DT770 is more of a bright, airy and dry can.
I don't like the peaky highs of the DT770, so the more recessed highs of the DT150 are better to my ears. Especially because the DT150 doesn't exaggerate sibilance.
The DT770 is much more comfortable though.
Both are good headphones, I guess it depends a lot on taste, which one you'll prefer. The DT770 is more hi-fi, the DT150 more fun IMHO.
