Yes me too.....my Reference 5.2 is two months old and outdated. The applause for embracing a new chipset for USB with TE8802 and the press releases from Audio-GD that they were the first to embrace this new capability has all but died, quicker than it arrived. What happened, why now USB32 ? will Audio-GD offer free upgrades to USB32 for customers who bought the sales pitch with DI-DSP and the DACs with TE8802?
Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the product having a DAC19DSP, C2.2, Reference 5.2 and CIA-400 also invested in Double-Helix ACSS cables, but just a unhappy with this TE8802 saga, and no explanation that I've seen from Audio-GD other than now similar claims for the latest and greatest with USB32 that we heard for TE8802.
If the truth be told... Audio g-d going with the TE8802 and touting it was a huge mistake in more ways than one. Kingwa wishes he had never heard of the Tennor TE8802.

There's been quite a bit of talk about what's been going on with the tennor. Several people had issues with it and tennor didn't help out. If your tennor chip works for you then you're good and you still have a ref5 with a usb input in it and you don't NEED to upgrade.
I got my ref5.32 last week but I'm basically not going to be able to compare it with anything. All my sources have the same level output except the ref 5 which is slightly hotter than everything else. It is just too much work to try to volume match all the time.
A good question here is: can TE8802 module be replaced with USB-32 module? I know that Audio-gd equipment has modular receivers, but it would be interesting to see if this is possible...

I am using BNC input through JKenny's Hiface transport, although I have tried Ref5.2 USB briefly. It seemed usable to me, processor usage was a bit higher than usual (not all the time), but I am not 100% sure it is related to TE8802 driver. Nevertheless, I am not too happy if I have invested in a device that is problematic (even if it is only for some users). It could be important for example, when reselling the device some time in the future...

There are some technical issues to work out and it wont likely be a direct swap, one for the other. The usb32 card also requires more power than what is provided by usb power so if you have a DI without the (a) extra power supply then that wont work.
I find it extraodinary that Audio-GD are still advertising the DI model with TE8802 chipset for sale on the website given the issues they have had.
Why make the user base bigger than it is if there are technical issues that may require a return to manafacturer to resolve, given the logistics and shipping costs.
if the power supply is an issue for the DI do you know if the Reference 5.2 would have the same issue ?, hopefully given mains supply it can support a module change rather than the whole DAC having to be returned to Audio-GD.
