I am thinking of selling my LCD-3 Pre fazor with updated headband and ear pads to 2021. What is the current market value for the Pre fazor LCD-3?

I still feel pre-fazors are still sought after (listening to my LCD-3 pre-fazors now) because if the drivers lasted this long, then they stand a good chance to continue to operate well into the future. I listened to an LCD-2F (2019) once and its presentation put me off (super narrow soundstage made it sound artificially tall). This experience made me seek out and (eventually) purchase LCD-2.1 and 2.2 pre-fazors.

I finally had some time over the weekend to listen to these (they sat in a box after I got them back from Audeze). My initial impression is that these 2022 Fazor drivers are definitely better than the 2018 Fazor drivers and might be better than 2012/pre Fazor. After some fairly trivial EQ, these compete well with other cans in the $1.5-2k range.

The 2022 were better in every way, even lighter, but since they also have different pads and swapping is a pain, I can't be sure whether it's the pads or a change in the driver. Also measured significantly differently. Also swapped out the pads for the non-leather ones and prefer the sound on them.

I think they're appropriately priced especially if purchased on sale. I think weight/comfort is the biggest flaw, and while I get used to them, other headphones I have over 600g are more comfortable.

Overall very pleased with them and glad I bought them.

I read somewhere here (can't find it) that there was indeed a pad change in the last year or so.

I have the leather pads on mine (3F, late 2019 model IIRC) and I have no other LCD-3 to compare it to, but these are amazing.

I believe 2019 LCD3 is the same as 2018 LCD3. I suspect Audeze changed both LCDX and LCD3 in 2022. The latest LCDX also seems to be pretty great from some reliable sources and also a significant step up from the earlier iteration.

Are they actually new fazors for 2022, I saw a 2021 LCD-3 going for cheap but should I wait?

Didn't Audeze reduce the number of magnet bars in the magnet array for several models? I thought I saw the latest revision of the LCD-3 included in that list. If my memory is correct, then that is one reason for shaving off some of its weight.

So wouldn't surprise me if the drivers have been tweaked slightly in that time. The pads came out in 2020 so are definitely different. They seem to have been very well received, though not quite as cushy feeling as the memory foam ones, it addresses the mids suck out some experienced with older pads.
