Audeze LCD-3 Impressions Thread

Unfortunately Audeze LCD3 and LCD4 drivers are unreliable. Unpleasant experience from Audeze headphones (LCD2,3,4). May be I believed marketing tricks and my expectations were too high. SQ is rather mediocre for each headphone price range. Personally moved to Sony and Stax. Life rocks again.

You are lucky. Search head-fi for driver issues with Audeze. The biggest problem, it can't be fixed. Only replacement possible. Cost of repair outside of warranty eg. for LCD3 around 800 usd. But sure, LCD has very nice design and though heavy still very comfortable to wear despite of very stiff bridge (require/can be cured with pad thickness adjustment).

Luck or whatever, I seem to be getting along pretty well. The same goes with the Woo Audio WA22 which I bought used recently. It's quiet with any tubes I use with it. Whereas I would read of many others having hum and noise in their WA22 and tubes.

So yeah I never heard any problems with the LCD-2f which I bought new or the used LCD-3f. I sold off the LCD-2f to 'upgrade' to LCD-3f and then sold off LCD-3f after using ZMF Verite for 2 months.

I have the LCD 2 since 2016, the LCD 3 since early 2018, the EL-8 since launch and the Mobius since launch. Zero issues for me so far.

Good to hear of another 'lucky' owner lol. Now we just need to hear from more lucky owners.
Count me in. I had the LCD-2 rev2 (pre fazor) for almost 2 years before I decided to sell them. No problems with the driver. I currently own the LCD-3F, and EL-8 (both open and closed). No issues so far.

Yes, LCD2 is the most reliable from all the three, because it has less complicated driver design vs LCD3 and LCD4. IMHO LCD2 is the best headphone from Audeze from price/quality point of view. If I understand right, technology Audeze uses in their headphones can be precise in sound reproduction or reliable. Both are difficult to combine. The distance from membrane is very small and can be changed easily just by normal usage. Probably humidity and temperature changes can play some role.

Dang, I do miss the LCD-3f and it would have sounded great with my Studio Six amp. Maybe I should get it again .... or a LCD-4.

Anybody use the LCD-3 with Astell and Kern DAPS and in particular with the SP2000? If so what are your impression? Can a DAP sufficiently drive them? My LCD-2 sounds great on the SP2000 and even better going through my system but was looking to move upline with the LCD-3. Will there be any appreciable sound differences between the 2 and 3?

Thanks
