Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

Sorry for the very general question, but how are the LCD-2 compared to the DT880 Pro? I have been using the DT880 for almost a decade now and they were considered my endgame headphones after owning the HD800, D7000, and other misc $300-500 headphones ( for the late 2000s).

Now my Amp/DAC combination is having popping issues, I've been dragged back into the game to see what else is out there. I've heard of the LCD-2 as I was exiting the game but it looks like they have made some improvements?

The biggest thing bothering me with the DT880s is the lack of mid bass and slight harsh highs. From what I read, the T1 doesn't really improve that much on the harshness of the highs.

I do use my cans for gaming as well, so how is the soundstage of the LCD 2?

I plan on replacing my old amp/dac with the Schiit Jotunheim. For those that heard/have both, will LCD 2 give me the bass bump and less harsh highs I'm looking for?

Thank you!

Another thing to consider is the weight of the LCD-2, the DT880 is about 1/3 the weight of the LCD-2 so its not the most comfortable and depending on how big you are they might start to fall off if you look down like my GF who is 158cm and 43.5kg after eating.

Other headphones that might interest you: DT-1990, Amiron, and EL8, but I'm not sure I would use the Jot for these headphones since the Jot was a bit bright with the HD800, HE560 and HD700 but pretty good with the HD650 and EL8.

Concur with DavidA regarding the LCD-2 weight. I recently gifted away my circa 2012 LCD-2s as they were just gathering dust... they were simply uncomfortable (heavy, sweaty, clampy) and they really didn't sound much better than my B&O H6s (maybe due to their weaker, shallower bass?). I also found the imaging of the H6s very close if not comparable to the LCD-2s.

I guess I should keep looking then. I actually have a massive head (XL hats to XXL helmets )and found the DT880 puts a little too much pressure on the ears after 2-3 hours. DT1990 is also of interest. Just need to find a place to try them all on.

Thank you

I just got a pair of LCD-2 Shedua from Adorama today. Did Audeze change their packaging, cable and warranty card? The case is redesigned (still nice and rugged). The cable is braided now. The certificate of authenticity is a credit card now, and the manual/warranty info is now on a thumb drive.

I'm noticing huge improvements in comfort though. Its still an Audeze, but the weight is noticeably lighter than my LCD-X, pads feel more supple too. Is there a 2017 revision?

Here's a shot of the cans and braided cable. Love the Shedua. Anyone else have an issue with the yokes not holding your setting? My left yoke will extend one click over extended listening.

Oh, that looks interesting. A very welcome update. I honestly hate the cable that the LCD2/3/X/XC come with and this seems to be much more reasonable. Could you maybe post a picture of the box and accessories too? Asking just out of curiosity. I wonder if there is anything new about this revision sonically or if it just an accessory update.

I'll try to get to this this weekend. The pads look different from my LCD-X pads. They have more grain texture and more supple straight from the box. Did Audeze update the pad design, or am I just experiencing a lower end pad compared to the LCD-X? I would think they would use the same pad across the board for economies of scale.

I just purchased my LCD-2 couple of days ago and it did not come with the braided cable. You mind I ask when is the manufacture date for yours? I have the same problem with one of the yoke..... It just doesn't hold the setting. Quite frustrating.

I emailed Audeze, and they said the date of manufacture was 4/12/17. When was yours manufactured? Just curious, but did yours come with foam between the earpads?

Mines was manufacture in September 2016. Looks like the place I got it from stock it for quite some time before getting it sold. And I don't see any foam between the earpads.

4 X kz zs5 or audeze isine cable. 1 x audeze sine 1 x audeze LCD 1 x akg k712 All of excellent workmanship and highest craftsmanship available. The foil shielding could be bit hard. Much more details in instruments. And give better kick for bass. For the sine factory default cable, it definitely belongs to the bin. Offer much better before and after sales service than audeze. Nice chap, extremely responsible and reliable. only speaks chinese.need Google translate.ship overseas.
