Well, my experience tells me that silver is rather mandatory with LCD-2.2F, still. Previous iterations of this model were more clunky, it subjectively improved and is more clear indeed. But still, some agility and clarity injection silver provide works better than copper in LCD-2.2F case.

I unscrewed the top screws as per the instructions. Not tight at all?

The instructions I was sent definitely said the upper screws, which are much easier to remove.

In a nutshell, I would say the LCD-X is a bit cleaner & faster than the LCD-2, but it sounds less natural. There's something wonky about its voicing, at least to my ears.
The 2016 LCD-2 is slightly better than the 2014. It's fast & clean like the X, but retains the LCD-2's more natural voicing. But the difference is so small it's not worth the upgrade cost, at least to me.
