To be priced above every other summit fi headphone out there (neglecting HE1 and SL), the sound will have to be fantastic for people to overlook hfm's rep and the price tag and pull the trigger on a pair.

They have some stiff competition already, and just now, an update to the Abyss drivers has been announced - the goal posts have just moved a bit further away again...

i had three hifiman in the past:he-5le, he-500 and he-6. the he-6 the best but my favourite was the he-500.
hifiman made a name thanks to this headphones with high Q/P relationship. now i see only crazy prices and i´m little sad.
of course, hifiman is a company that needs to generate profit.
i´m sure that many people will buy this headphone

Agreed.  I can't wait to see impressions as well as pairings.

RIP

Susvara / EF1000 died at CanJam SoCal 2017

what a terrible loss for all those that came to hear it in action,

hope it will soon be able to "blow us away", as it did itself

I believe it also died in Canjam Singapore.

It did have a rather large soundstage, I think, though there were no genuine classical orchestral recordings on their piece of schiit portable player for me to verify that on.
