The International, a new balanced amp & USB DAC from ALO Audio, can interwork with a Samsung Galaxy S3 using USB Audio Recorder PRO app:

music stored on Galaxy S3 > USB Audio Recorder PRO player > digital USB audio out >> The International >> headphones

"Success!  That took quite a bit of fine tuning, but I did get it working finally with the USB Audio Recorder PRO program.  In full 24/96 no less! "

I can confirm ( Unfortunately )
that the FiiO E17 does NOT work with either the Sony S1 Tablet or the Xperia ST23i smartphone.
So I just spent £8 on an app that I cant use at the moment lol!!
I hope I have better luck with the Boomslang 2 when I get it!

Apologies for cross-post, but thought this should also go to this thread:

Woohoo! HeadAmp Pico USB DAC/amp back today - can confirm it is now working perfectly with the Note 2 and International S3! Thank you so much Justin.

Also, FWIW, his fix also allows it to work with the Nokia Pureview 808 (it didn't before).

It doesn't work with the HTC Butterfly, and I suspect that is because it can't output enough power - it is obvious that HTC have severely curtailed USB OTG power-output in that handset (one presumes because its battery life is **** enough already). Will try it with a powered hub and see...
Fantastic!  Can you please elaborate on what was changed?  I already have to send my Pico back for another unrelated fix.  I'd love to get the Pico working with my phone again.

I don't know exactly what the change was, some issue with voltage on a particular part of the board, quite minor ultimately and I think anyone handy with a soldering iron could actually do the fix themselves. Let Justin know your is incoming for something else but that you'd also like the S3 fix applied while it's there.

Now I need to do an Apex Vs Pico sound-off :)

Crazy idea here but what about HDMI? A lot of phones now support mhl adapters and HDMI carries digital audio signal natively. I'm one of the lucky ones with a native HDMI port on my tablet. Are there any ways of getting HDMI sound into a DAC?

I can confirm that the HTC Droid DNA does work with the JDS Labs ODAC without the use of the USB Audio Recorder Pro app. I was actually a little surprised by this, because nobody's talking about the DNA having this capability, but I'm not complaining

To be clear, here's what I had working: MOG app on Droid DNA > USB OTG cable > JDS Labs ODAC > 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable > Fiio E11 > Beyerdynamic T5p. Sounds pretty good so far!! (But the T5p has a tendency to make that happen :p).

EDIT: I should also note that when I plugged in the USB OTG cable, I got the exclamation-point-in-a-triangle symbol in my status bar that gave the following error message: "Unable to charge device. Please use supported charger." Didn't matter, it still worked.

Exact same behaviour as in my HTC Butterfly. So far all the high-end devices running Jelly Bean from HTC have inbuilt USB audio (and not the stupid proprietary implementation that Jelly Bean offers natively).

Anyone know of a galaxy nexus kernel that has USB audio code similar to what HTC and Samsung did with their units, as opposed to the standard Jelly Bean implementation?

It got late, I got tired, and started thinking about what I could plug in where (which is why I don't have a cat), and I tried using my iBasso D6 with my DNA, but it was a no-go. The audio did not play through the phone's speakers, and the speed of the track was obviously too fast, which is the same thing it did with my S3. Crud.

Hello,
I'm new to this forum I'm interested for several weeks.
I am an amateur and would like to buy one of those pretty little box (dac / amp).

I am interested in a product, the hrt MicroStreamer:

http://www.audioanalogdistribution.com/ ... rostreamer
http://highresolutiontechnologies.com/microstreamer
http://positive-feedback.com/Issue65/microstreamer.htm

This model is new and not much info about it on the web, most quite expensive: s.
It caught my attention because of its size and the positive feedback I've read about this brand in general.
The problem is that it is recommended for use with a PC (but compatible tablet, smartphone)
it has no battery, but I would use a smartphone.
It is powered by the USB port, but I wonder what result can I expect with a smartphone?

Is that the ability of the amplifier will be reduced?

I currently use Ultimate ears 700 which requires little "juice" but for use with a headset can it be a problem?

I already read that the model hrt mobile headstreamer also powered by the USB works with galaxy note 2: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-da ... ase-14029 /

I hope you can advise me thank you in advance.

(sorry my english is not great)
