Anyone know of a galaxy nexus kernel that has USB audio code similar to what HTC and Samsung did with their units, as opposed to the standard Jelly Bean implementation?

Apparently, a DIY USB DAC is working with a Galaxy Nexus running on Franco's kernel & AOKP and AlsaMixer available on Google Play Store:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32585985&highlight=dac#post32585985

May be, the Franco's kernel and the Ezekeel's kernel could be used with the latest custom ROMs.

I knew that Glados had support, but didn't know about Franco. I flashed the 4.1.2 version by accident, and let's say I'm learning how to push files to my phone via ADB in recovery right now... :)
I did find that there's a version for 4.2 though.

Update: I flashed the latest franco kernel and tried USB audio. No sound, and after searching through a few more posts, it seems he hasn't implemented full USB audio support yet in his 4.2 kernels.

Hello,
I'm new to this forum I'm interested for several weeks.
I am an amateur and would like to buy one of those pretty little box (dac / amp).

I am interested in a product, the hrt MicroStreamer:

http://www.audioanalogdistribution.com/ ... rostreamer
http://highresolutiontechnologies.com/microstreamer
http://positive-feedback.com/Issue65/microstreamer.htm

This model is new and not much info about it on the web, most quite expensive: s.
It caught my attention because of its size and the positive feedback I've read about this brand in general.
The problem is that it is recommended for use with a PC (but compatible tablet, smartphone)
it has no battery, but I would use a smartphone.
It is powered by the USB port, but I wonder what result can I expect with a smartphone?

Is that the ability of the amplifier will be reduced?

I currently use Ultimate ears 700 which requires little "juice" but for use with a headset can it be a problem?

I already read that the model hrt mobile headstreamer also powered by the USB works with galaxy note 2: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-da ... ase-14029 /

I hope you can advise me thank you in advance.

(sorry my english is not great)

I can also confirm that the microStreamer works out of the box with my Note II without additional USB power, although adding a Y-cable and a battery provides a tad more dynamic and tighter bass, despite higher noise floor for some reason. However you can't beat the combo on the road for their ultra compact size.

Ok guys, I got my galaxy S3 sorted out (swapped the used motherboard I scored on ebay), and got it working great.. flashed with cleanrom 5.6

Now This time I did not flash a custom kernal, and playback is absolutely perfect. I am using poweramp (worth the purchase, seems like the best music player for android).
No custom configurations or setup needed, just plug right in and the phone sets itself up.

I will not ever touch fast charge, since that killed my old motherboard.

Get Neutron for a test (trial) and you will see the difference, or in this case HEAR THE DIFFERENCE!!

Hello,
Just to say that i've got usb audio working between my "old" A500 from acer (usb host full size port) and my hifimediy dac (sabre chipset and same usb chipset as in odac) with this rom jb 4.2.1 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049874

I just plug my dac during flashing process and after it was working (but no more sound from my tablet through the woofers, i have to reboot it without dac plugged to regain access to my woofers).
Before nothing works for me (but i didn't really test with having my dac plugged during the flashing process and until the tablet first boot!)

Things are moving forward, now i can use this tablet as a decent music player, dlna local renderer, etc.

The hifimediy sabre dac works on my nexus7 with Faux123 kernel, the odac also works, but requires a powered usb hub

Hi Breadvan, I was hoping to find someone who did use this with a smartphone to give me some advice, I'm interested in this microstreamer. can you tell me more about the effect on your phone battery when you use it? Do you use an Y usb cable with another battery? Which one? Is there a real enhencement compare to your note II 's Dac ?even without the add of an external battery? And what headphone do you use it with? I would like to use it with an xperia Z maybe when i'll get it.

Thanks for your answer, but do you need and external battery when you connect noise isolating earphone like ue700 or 900? Or is it made for big headphones?
Do you know where I could buy an external battery and the approptiate usb cable ?
