Can somebody please confirm if they are limited to 3k pcs?

the numbers I posted are from AKG headquarters in Vienna.  I've been in commuincation with them on the K702-65 & Tiesto line.  My contact is the project manager, not just somebody at AKG.

Interesting.  Thanks.

I wonder how you go about getting a hold of those Pads, aka part no. 5021871.

has anyone tried the 702-65's with the K702/Q701 pads?

I did before I sold my Q701.  I flipped both pads (anniversary and Q701) back and forth between the two sets of headphones.  It proved to me the 65 pads did in fact add to the perceived bass improvement of the 65s over the Q.  Whichever headphone had the 65 pads on had more bass.  There seemed to be more than just the pads but I couldn't tell if it was just because I wanted to hear a difference or there was in fact more going on.

Ahh, thanks for your assessment. I think as an anniversary edition, they could have included both sets. Even the Senn hd-25-1 ii included both pleather and velour ear pads. The added bass, though with the memory foam is a welcome change.

Wouldn't that be funny if you couldn't buy replacement pads for your $500 headphone?

I bet there will be a lot of people who will buy the 65th pads for the Q701. I honestly don't know if this would even work.
I just know that the K601 pads are AWFUL on the Q701. Makes them much too shouty and annoying. Not with all music..
At first it was OK, but then I started to hate it.

I'd probably pay up to $75 for some memory foam pads for the Q701...yeah i'm stupid. Only if they were not as bad as K601 pads.

If AKG doesn't sell the pads and people are willing to pay a premium for them, maybe owners will start selling  Anniversary pads and replacing theirs with ones from the other version.

Would be interesting to know how. All I read is that AKG are smooth, warmish, very forgiving and good with many differ genres, so, I just wonder,  what is the meaning of Studio REFERENCE then?

Dont get me wrong, it's just that I don't feel that normal K702 are analytical and cold sounding headphones, at least in my system they are not. In my mind, if headphones cover some nasty stuff from the record, they are not reference studio level, also not transparent and neutral, so, I am really confused right now...

THX.

For me it's sound transparency, some sense of balanced that I can mix well...and if it's possible, a good sound separation, and a great sound stage in a round perfect sphere will be the ideal.
