They are the easiest of all my IEMs, save perhaps the Grado GR10e,

bosiemoncrieff, did you expiremented with filters and tips? I tried all filters and actually found that they are working, except color code, I have 2 pairs of grey. Reference filters and smallest stock tips is best for me. Also tried spinfits cp145, not bad, but too big for my ears.

My fake ones came with fake reference filters and one pair of fake stock tips. However, they sound the same as the real ones. Maybe better. I haven't experimented with others, except for a hot second at Harman-Kardon NYC a few years ago. That trip was more memorable because I hooked up k812 to a $30,000 amp and it sounded amazing.

I have two pairs of non-i version. One shipped to be from AKG and the other I bought from Minidisc in AU (AKG dealer) so I know they are not fake. Still sounds great after so many years.

I noticed when I am listening my fakes with LG V30S, sound is too artificial and connecting them to Mojo or CMA400i it is definitely a step up. I did not notice so much difference with my Shure SE215. Today I am picking up my first expensive IEM's - FitEar TG334 and can't wait to compare them.
However, they sound the same as the real ones.
Now it is my goal of life to compare my fakses with orginal K3003.

Hello guys,

I bought a pair of AKG K3003i. Which ones are reference filters? and which ones are bass boost?
There are three colors: black, gray, white.

Thanks,
Black bass
Grey Reference
White - treble emphasis

But, it should be pointed out that how this is achieved is quite interesting - the bass boost doesn't actually boost the bass, it cuts the treble! The attached sheds more light on the tuning of the filters.

Thanks Giles!

My favorite is bass / black.
It sounds much better than reference filter! To be honest, this is the best I've heard in IEM so far. It beats my Sony XBA N3, H3, A3, Sennheiser IE800, and Etymotic ER4SR!
I think K3003 is the best IEM ever. It indeed has sound stage, details which haven't heard in any other IEMs.
