    DAAAAMN YOOOOOU PHILIPS!!!!!!

I have a pair of HP890's where I've had the "structural intrgrity" problem you mention - the plastic holding the earcups cracked into small pieces, finally completely disitegrating. There was another post here at Head-fi about someone else having the same problem. I'm sure you can find if you...

Sounds like fun. I'm in Stockholm, but I might consider popping over. I'll monitor this thread.

?'s and thoughts on digital music storage and the Roku Soundbridge

One cool feature of the SlimServer software is the ability to stream the music on your server at home over the internet to a music player anywhere. I listen to my music collection at home by connecting an MP3 player to my home machine by http://<machine>:9000/stream.mp3 (Password protected)...

    PDA Choices...?

Why doesn't someone release a PalmOS with a hard drive, that can be used as a music player and PDA?

Is there any very good and very relaxing classical music out there?

Erik Satie's Gymnopedies immediately spring to mind. Someone else on this site previously mentioned BBC's Discovering Music radio series - you can listen to their previous eposides over the net. My fiancee and I have been listening to these almost every night for the last month or so - a...

    Which amp for hd580s+audigy2?

I'm just curious why nobody recommends the Total Airhead. I'm looking at getting the Total Bithead. I'm wondering why the Headroom Airheads or similar are rarely recommended when this kind of questions are asked. Many people seem to think that they are very good (I don't think I've seen...

    Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828

    Advice on LCD monitors

I have a Hercules ProphetView 15" at home, and a 17" of the same brand at work. They've worked well. The 17" was in a round-up at Tom's Hardware fairly recently and got a good review. www.tomshardware.com is a good place for TFT monitor reviews. A tip might be to see if you can buy it...

    Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828

www.dpreview.com is also a good site. Personally I'd go with a 'real' DSLR at a similar price, ideally the Nikon D70, or if not possible the Canon D300. IMHO you get much more for your money with a DSLR - better image quality (lenses and sensor) and flexibility (availability of lenses etc).

How to tag classical music after ripping?

I've been struggling with the same issues. What I've normally done was to use the composer as artist, symphony (or similar) as album, movement as track name, and movement number as track number. So two symphonies on one CD would be tagged as two different albums. I write the composer name as...

Most comfortable headphones - POLL added

You have not mentioned the Philips SBC HP 890 headphone. Very comfortable, similar I would think to the Sennheiser HD600 (which I don't have much experience with). Velvety circumaural pads. The Philips headphone has good sound quality at a relatively low price (at least in Europe)...

USB jitter free, non-resampling dac.. anyone tried this?

Isn't this what Headroom's Bitheads do? They include a headphone amplifier, but still, it's a USB-based DAC.. Or am I missing something?

    "Hot" (loud) digital recordings

This is a follow-up to a phenomenon mentioned in passing in the thread "Comparison between BH and TBH" in the Headroom forum, which I think deserved it's own thread. Eagle_Driver wrote: Quote: Now, I've heard modern, mostly acoustic recordings - and they all sound hollow and...

The best bang for your buck first audiophile quality headphone (IMO)

No one's mentioned the Philips SBC HP890. I don't have the experience to compare them to other phones, but they have gotten very good reviews, saying they are not all that different from the Sennheiser 600s. Here in Sweden you can get them for 549 SEK (=76 USD) incl VAT excl shipping at...
