Musical IEMs up to $500
So, my dog ate my beloved Earsonics SM64s. True story. Anyway, now looking for a replacement set of IEMs to use with my FIIO x7 mk2. I value musicality over extreme resolution and am open to any brand. Ideally, I’d like to keep it to <$350, but could go up to $500. Thanks in advance for...- gfabbri

Complete List of Known X7 Mark II Firmware Issues:
Bluetooth pairing issue - easily can pair the X7 with my Bose soundlink speaker, but the X7 will not “see” my car’s audio system. Interestingly, the car can see, but not pair with the X7. Any others with similar issues? (And thanks for the help with the artists / albums issue! All set. :-)) -

HiFiMan HE4XX
Do you all think that the X7 mk II could effectively drive these with the stock AM3 amp, or would one need the extra power of the AM5, or are they really not portable-appropriate? Looking at these as an iem alternative.- gfabbri

May be less of a bug than a personal annoyance, but... When selecting Artists, the next level is songs. Why doesnt it go Artists —> Albums (including an option for all songs) —> songs? -
Balanced IEMs?
Any iem can be used balanced as long as you retrofit a balanced cable to it. Obviously way easier with some iems. FIIO makes a pretty cheap balanced cable that I’m using with my SM64s. Sounds good.- gfabbri

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
Anyone had issues with the DAP starting playback in the middle of a song? Has happened to me a few times in the handful of days I’ve owned the unit. This is not just pausing and playing, but rather when switching to a new song while one is already playing and not done.- gfabbri

Damn, am I loving this DAP after a couple days! What are your favorite players for the DAP? Surprisingly, after sampling a handful of them briefly, I keep finding myself back to the FIIO Music app for its sheer detail and soundstaging without being harsh on my ears. I’ve also tried...- gfabbri

Audiophile iOS audio player
Agreed. Nice to have options. Sometimes I just like the warm & smooth vibe of iAudioGate; most of the time I'm running KaiserTone. Roll those apps like tubes!- gfabbri

Open Cans as Upgrade from HD580?
Huh. I'm confused. So the only headphones that are better than the HD580 are the SR-009? Or only within a certain price range? How can that be?- gfabbri

Open Cans as Upgrade from HD580?
I haven't. Kinda scared off by build quality / weight rants on Audeze, but I presume no issues with yours? How would you compare the sound with the Sennheisers?- gfabbri

Open Cans as Upgrade from HD580?
All - Looking for open cans as an upgrade from / alternative to my 580s. I love the 580s, but for some music (rock/pop, hard bop), I am looking for something quicker and a little more forward. Budget is $1,000 or less, excluding the balanced cables I'll need. Source is an old but good...- gfabbri

After a bunch of listening to Onkyo, KaiserTone, iTunes, and iAudiogate feeding my HA-2, I fall into the "horses for courses" camp. We have some great options here! Help regarding Sennheiser hd580
Not so sure. I think age as much as use may degrade the pads. I had not been using mine nearly enough for the past couple years, but I recently broke them out again and the headband pads had mysteriously deflated really without much use. The seller might not be yanking your chain... And BTW...- gfabbri

Earsonics SM64: The Impressions Thread
Wow. Just wow. My set just came today, and I broke them in for a few hours before trying them out, just straight out of my iPhone. ZERO buyer's remorse here -- just as the reviews said, they're revealing, a tad warm, and damn musical. Thanks to everyone who reviewed these! -G- gfabbri
