Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!
those pads look interesting - how's the fit/sound with denon variants? i could also try them on my m50's.- mugtastic

Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!
having recently put new pads on mine i agree. i have a feeling the foam in the original pads degrades to a point that they are so soft they bring the drivers closer to the ears and the comfort is hard to duplicate. they still sound and feel great though.- mugtastic

Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!
can someone point me to the replacement pads available that are most similar to the ones that came with my d2000? i would like to maintain the softness and relative looseness - i need to replace the pads on my d2000 soon and also want to try to make my new emu teak more comfortable - it seems...- mugtastic

Would you rather use Closed or IEMs for going out and about?
for casual walking about i like full sized closed - you can take them on and off easier, i feel a little more aware of my surroundings and i find the sound in my head walking or chewing gum etc. annoying with iems. if it's for more active movement i use iems over the ear cinched behind...- mugtastic

New headphones
go to long and mcquade where you can check out the senn 280pros and Audio-Technica - ATH-M50 (i think you'll hear that the m50 is better - and you can get them on ebay for almost half the price including shipping to canada) and various other sets. then you could make a trip into toronto to...- mugtastic

PortaPro loose jack?
send them to koss - you'll get a new set for the cost of shipping. this is assuming it happens with more than 1 source and everything is relatively clean.- mugtastic

Are my expectations reasonable? (headphoones vs. earphones)
most sound engineers wouldn't mix on headphones at all - i like to use them as one tool and have gotten pretty good at it (imo). i haven't had the m50 too long but i like them for recording work - i could see a problem handing them to someone used to only mixing on ns10s and saying...- mugtastic

Are my expectations reasonable? (headphoones vs. earphones)
haven't heard the shure, but i have the ue superfi 5 pros and i'd recommend the ath-m50. gives a good taste for the benefits of a full sized hp over iems and its a proper studio monitor. i have a home studio and i've actually found the presonus headphone outputs to be perhaps the most...- mugtastic

$100 headphones to Canada
for open get some koss porta-pros (ms-1, or grados i find uncomfortable) closed try some audio technica ath-m50s - ebay + import duty will be over $100 but prob. worth it. but seriously i doubt you'll ever regret having a set of porta-pros around. i bought a pair a few years ago...- mugtastic

Gaming/Music headphones
i've switched from using my akg k701s to the denon d2000s for gaming and music (and movies for that matter). i do use an amp though. d2000 is very comfortable, detailed, with lots of bass impact. wouldn't ever use them portably though - too big and loose fitting. they'd sound fine...- mugtastic

best replacement for ue superfi 5pros?
now that my ue's have broken (i've started a thread in headphones for sale to buy a left side earpeice), i'm checking opinions on possible replacements. i know there are lots of good iems, but these are only for my "active" setup. i already have triplefi 10vi's for my iphone and livewires...- mugtastic

ATH M50
also, for monitoring (analytical listening) i'd pick the m50, but for unamped and/or "fun time" i'd check out the denon d1001. i own the d2000 but have tried a d1001.- mugtastic

Spot Those Headphones: We Are The Word Remake Edt.
i thought of this potential thread when i saw quincy jones wearing gleaming white k701s with the upgraded green cable while all the underlings had more common studio cans. not that they were necessarily his choice or anything - he's not performing so he may have just been one who didn't need...- mugtastic

Best closed headphones for Zune HD under $200?
d2000 are bigger, need better amping. d1001 are better straight out of a portable.- mugtastic

Best closed headphones for Zune HD under $200?
since this is in the full sized section i assume you don't want iems? fwir the m50's will want more amping than a portable will offer, so based on my experiences i'd look towards the denon d1001. it won't be shy on the bass, but i think in a more enjoyable way than the beats. they won't...- mugtastic

Apple Airport Express - Streaming Spdif
i use the newer express. it's currently my only wireless - works great. just get one - plug it in and start streaming. i've had to reset it sometimes but not often. make sure itunes is set to check for remote speakers. if it turns out to be too much trouble you can just return it. but...- mugtastic

young drummer best isolating cans
i play drums and for isolation, snug fit and comfort i like sennheiser hd280pro best. most iems would prob. be ok but for recording i like to just whip phones on and off without the fussiness of my iems.- mugtastic

Sennheiser HD-280
what are your reasons for wanting the hd280s? is the sound isolation important? are you hoping they will be good for outdoor use in the cold of winter? they are good for both of these reasons but i would pick koss porta-pros (my fav for ipod use) and denon ah-d1001s over the 280s for sound...- mugtastic
