Yeah it is, I just use the zip cord for now, but for long term I will wrap the cord around itself like I did for the 3m long Sony. I really like the improved sound of the AKGs but I wish the cord was beefier, seems very fragile. Time will tell.

What a Samsung 8GB P2? its around the $200 range and when i had it the SQ was fairly reasonable.

Have you tried MD before? I currently own the MZ-RH1 and the SQ is unsurpassed. It supports .wav so you won't be complaining anymore. Although ATRAC sounds really good, so even at 192kbps or lower it sounds decent for the bitrate. The difference between .wav and ATRAC is blurred at around...

i think the Samsung line up would do you good, it has everything you requested and more. However, it might be a bit costlier than the competition.

I haven't tried OGG yet but i think you can use it out of the box, because the software's options gives you an option to convert CD to OGG. The seeking method you mentioned works on the P2, it just takes a moment or two for really large files (700MB). For small files it is immediate.

Okay, today I upgraded from 5mw/ch to 20mw/ch. Should be able to drive the headphones better. I think I'm pretty much set on the AKG K81 DJ, anything to know before I buy them? Ultimately will these be an upgrade from my current MDR-V300.

The SQ is determined by not only the type of codec on your DAP, but the DAP itself too. For example you take any stock iPod and put it up against a Cowon use the exact same files the Cowon would sound better. Why, because of the dac and internal amp used. A CD player does not necessary sound...
