Can someone please confirm hiss or lack of hiss when the Nuforce is on the high gain setting?

Can someone tell me how the gain select works? How many options are there? I'm thinking of using this with the 150 ohm Yuin PK1 earbuds.

When I tried the D2000 with my Beresford, there was a low-level but audible hiss. It was one of the reasons I sold the D2000 and kept my K601, which had no hiss with the Beresford. Your experience may be different, since I'm not sure what the exact version of my DAC is: MK6 1, 2 or 3.

My opinion: the EMU 0404 USB is supposed to have a good built-in headphone amplifier and the cans you mentioned are not very hard to drive, so save your money for the time being and enjoy the music!

MisterX, the DIY guru around these parts, recommended a M^3 amp with bass boost for my K601.

I had the same exact experience as badmonkey with my K601s when fed with my M-Audio Transit. I did get enough volume for DVD's, but it was JUST enough. I would have felt more secure with my purchase if I didn't have to max out the volume.
