MisterX, the DIY guru around these parts, recommended a M^3 amp with bass boost for my K601.

What about the PPAV2 (I'm not suggesting it, merely asking if it's suitable).

I personally own a K601 as well and am looking for a DIY design to build for the K601. The mini^3 is my next project, but it's meant to be portable.

Mini3 is simply nice. Clean, clean sound for the price.

the sensitivity spreadsheet gives 120 Ohms and a low 92dB/mW for K601

I consider driving the selected headphones to 120 dB spl without amplifier clipping to be a target for quality desktop amplification

for K601 that requires ~ 120 mA, 14 Vpk which is too much current for otl tubes and pushing the limits of common op amp Vswing, especially after adding buffer dropout V performance

a multiloop with buf634 and a +/-18 V supply op amp would be enough, a AC bootstrapped or ccs biased discrete diamond buffer could sub for the buf634

I have both the K701 and K501 - I haven't heard the K601 - and these sound fantastic with the M³ (M^3) I built recently.

If you get the chance to audition it - go for it and enjoy.
