Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread
I got my STAX 3100 system this week (ordered from amazon Japan, price around $600) and I have to say that I love it. It became my daily driver and I have been enjoying playing music, games and movies. I paired it with Chord Mojo. Comfort is ok after reversing the mesh cover and will probably...- Mishal

Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread
Thank you !!!! the tip regarding pad discomfort was an instant fix for me. "Stock is not great, there is an oval-shaped mesh dust cover on the inside of the earcups that has an edge that might dig into your ears when you wear them. However, I found that if you rotate this mesh 180 degrees this...- Mishal

That's how I am doing it. It is and excellent program to make the final fine-tuning to what your ears like. and M1060 driver responds very well to EQ'ing.- Mishal

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
I have the iSine 10 and love them. M1060, however, is better. The bass of M1060 is detailed and visceral. Music (all genre), movies, games are all sound great on the M1060. The iSine 10 is not far behind and has excellent mids and treble that I enjoy, but does not have that bass. I don't have...- Mishal

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
So, Monoprice offered RMA for my M1060 (first batch) since the MMCX connector is not reliable (all cables are cutting to some degree, only a short one is cutting less due to its firm connection). I am worried that the MMCX will give in with time. Problem is, I used a US forwarding address since...- Mishal

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Honestly, I don't think the MMCX female connector will last for long. I think within a year it will be cutting off so bad that my M1060 will not be usable. Even the best cables i used started ok then cutting off started creeping to them unless I orient the plug at a certain angle and keep it...- Mishal

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
I dropped a message to Monoprice asking about those options and did not get an answer yet. I have fixed all the issues I faced with my M1060 myself after it was confirmed that it will not violate the warranty, I am wary, however, about doing more involved fixes like changing the plug to 2.5mm...- Mishal

I don't really think it is entitlement, rather an option that saves both parties additional cost and hassle. I can request Monoprice to fix the faulty MMCX plug. Monoprice, obligated by the 5 years warranty that encouraged us to buy it the first place with all the risk, need to either fix it...- Mishal

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
looking back, this MMCX issue has really screwed me cost wise and I am sure it did to first batch customers. I bought several cables (balanced and unbalanced) with total cost including shipping of $150+ in search of a cable that fits well. All of the ones I bought are cutting off to some degree...- Mishal

I found a small piece of plastic on the floor then, after a while, I discovered that it was the cap on the M1060 hing. Used superglue to put it back. something to check since you can easily loose this part if it falls off.- Mishal

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
Hi, I have my Granbeat set to 3G even though I can connect it to 4G. the reason is that 3G drains the battery less and I have not seen real advantage in going to 4G (LTE) where I live. I would recommend you speed test 3G and 4G with your current phone and decide if 3G is good enough in case...- Mishal

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
There are no moving parts and as long as you have a good way to protect the device from hitting other objects or falling, you should be fine. the Onkyo is heavy though so that is something you need to keep in mind compared to much lighter DAPs out there.- Mishal

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
The battery drain problem fixed itself today. Probably some kind of weird activity by the CPU that caused it. will never know :) BTW, I am using an app called Battery Booster for a while on my android devices and it is very effective in preserving the battery when you are not using the device...- Mishal

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
I turned airplane mode on, battery saver on, gps off, and even used battery booster app on ultimate saving, and the battery drain rate is almost the same (5 hours battery life projected from full charge). Any ideas on how to figure this out and narrow it down to what could be the issue ?- Mishal

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
Thanks. I will give it a try and see how it behaves. I would need to probably use airplane mode to check if it is due to using celluar/Wifi or some kind of rouge app that is sucking the battery. the system should tell if a program is doing this though but I will check it anyway.- Mishal

Hi, I got my Granbeat couple of days ago and I like it. I am having, however, a problem with the life of the battery. the set gets hot (102-106 F) and the battery is drained in 6 hours. did anyone face this problem ? and suggested fix ? checking the battery usage, I can't see a program that I...- Mishal

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
It depends on your phone (iPhone or Android). I tried DragonFly black and it is great on my android. make sure you get the latest 1.5 version which has low power draw compared to previous versions (1 and 1.2). Black version is all what you need and it is around $100. Instead of carrying a smart...- Mishal

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
Thanks Waifu! that was insightful. I do need another IEM that is isolating since the iSine is open and would not be the best choice depending on the environment you are in. I currently have the Shure SE215 which is super isolating but I was eyeing the Sony as an upgrade. Given it's reasonable...- Mishal

That is true, they are open like an openback headphone and sounds like one. I was talking to someone on the iSine forum and she compared them to her LCD2 and LCD3 in sound quality, albeit less intense due to driver size.- Mishal
