I could not find a way to search threads in this new website format... only the global Head-fi search is shown at the top. Am I missing something !?

I've been trying, without success, to locate the thread search function as well. The Advanced Search feature can be found by clicking the "Search Again" link at the top of a search results page. However, there's no option to search individual threads as with the old site.

I hope this function is reinstated along with several other missing features.

I'm not seeing a way to do it either. I thought the tags might take you to the point where they are mentioned in the thread, but it just does the general site search.
