Review by 'lisq199' on item 'Astell&Kern AK Jr Hi-Res Music Player'
I'm not going into details about how good this player sounds. There are plenty of reviews that will explain it better than I would. So let's get to the bad stuff. The UI is straight up unusable. I didn't make this video, but it illustrates my experience/frustration with it perfectly: There is...- lisq199

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure if I completely agree. 1. I do acknowledge that it's a lot harder to reduce background noise if the output power is high, but I also own a FiiO X5 2nd gen (245 mW), and it has an almost completely dark background, so I don't think higher output power is a...- lisq199

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Thanks for the reply. The hissing with IE80 is definitely less obvious than with SE535, but it's still very noticeable and can get annoying sometimes. To put things into perspective, the hissing of my Cayin N3's output is a lot louder than my iPhone, because I cannot hear any hiss with my IE80.- lisq199

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Hi everyone, I just received my N3 today and so far I'm very happy about the sound and UI. However, there's one problem. With sensitive IEMs (I've tried IE80 and SE535), I can hear a clear background hiss, which can get annoying in quiet environments. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there...- lisq199

Choosing an Entry Level DAP
Hi everyone, I'm also looking for a DAP and, instead of posting a new thread, I think it's better to just post it here. Currently I have an AK Jr and a Cayin N3. I've also listened to Sony Walkman A17 and FiiO X1. My problem with ALL of them is the background hiss. I've seen multiple reviews...- lisq199

Looking for a flat curve IEM
+1 for ER4P. ER4P and ER4S are probably as analytical as it can possibly get. If you don't have an amp, then go with ER4P, because ER4S sounds very bright and harsh without an amp. If you want to go custom, then the UE Reference Monitor is probably your best bet.- lisq199

Grado RS2e vs Shure 846? (Apples and Oranges maybe?)
I have the 846's. I think they are great in every way except the sound stage. If that's important to you, then maybe you should look elsewhere.- lisq199

Why can't I find a player that uses full size SD cards?
All the players I can find only take microSD cards. Does anyone know a player that uses regular SD cards? Thanks!- lisq199

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
I use both the rubber tips and the foam tips. I think it really depends on the type of music you listen to. 99% of the time I listen to classical music. Maybe it's hard to believe, but with classical music, SE846 is only a little bit bassier than ER4P. I've also tried to listen to things like...- lisq199

DO NOT BUY custom sleeves for SE846
I just received my custom sleeves for SE846 made by Sensaphonics. First of all, I'd like to clarify that I'm not bashing Sensaphonics by any means. In fact, I think Sensaphonics is an awesome company that makes high quality products. What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't buy custom...- lisq199

Need help IEM upgrade
In that case, I think there are a few things I need to say: 1. IEMs generally don't have a lot of bass, because most of them use balanced armature drivers. IE8 has a lot of bass because it uses dynamic drivers, and you can never expect balanced armature drivers to produce that kind of bass...- lisq199

Need help IEM upgrade
Based on your requirements, my first recommendation would be Shure SE846. It has the deepest, cleanest, and tightest bass I've ever heard with any IEM. I've found a number of reviews saying SE846 has too much bass, which I kind of disagree, because I'm by no means a bass head (my favorite IEM...- lisq199

Custome IEM Cable Compatibility
I'm new to the CIEM market, and I have a question about cable compatibility. I've taken a look at some of the models by different companies (JH, UE, 1964 Ears, etc.), the connectors all look very similar, in the sense that they all have 2 pins. So are all those cables compatible with...- lisq199
