Any bass heads grow to prefer a more neutral sound?
Nothing wrong with a fun pair of cans, but I'm just wondering; how many of you started out as bass heads and over time grew to prefer a more neutral and honest pair of cans? I've been listening to DT770 pro's for a number of years now, and just got my hands on a pair of 880 pro's today and it...- AdmiralAkmir

M-100 vs DT 770 pro 80
How does the V Moda M-100 compare to the DT 770 pro in terms of sound signature? I currently have the 770 pro 80, and I like the sound of them, but there is the infamous driver buzz at certain frequencies that I've grown tired of fixing. M-100 certainly is a lower impedance can than the 770...- AdmiralAkmir

O2+Odac issues
I just got my O2+Odac last week, and it worked out of the box, but over the last few days it hasn't been working right. The first time it happened I was trying to make a skype call and heard nothing. Turned out that it wasn't just in Skype, it was everywhere, no internet sounds, system sounds...- AdmiralAkmir

o2+odac doesn't work with skype?
Nevermind, I got it working. I'm not really sure what happened, but the solution was to remove my blue snowball microphone, which was plugged into the USB port right next to the DAC. When both are plugged in, as soon as a call starts, the odac loses all sound, and if I go into volume settings in...- AdmiralAkmir

o2+odac doesn't work with skype?
I just got the O2+Odac combo this week, I joined a skype call just a few minutes ago, and I hear nothing. I went into the audio settings and made sure my default was set to the o2, but I hear no sound, despite seeing the little sound meter going up and down in skype. Is this a known issue? I'm...- AdmiralAkmir

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Returning my X1's today, just thought I'd post and give my two cents. It was the first open can I had ever experienced, and I guess it's just really not for me. They sound okay, but I prefer the sound of my DT770 pro. -Non replaceable ear pads. I really like that security blanket with...- AdmiralAkmir

Horrible distortion is Schiit stack
I got the Schiit M&M stack a few weeks ago, usually I just leave it on unless I'm going somewhere for a long time. Today I sat down after lunch and had horrible distortion in the right ear. It was an awful static hiss with popping sounds. What ended up fixing it was removing the modi's usb...- AdmiralAkmir

Not sure how revealing those headphones are, but if the audio file is not of high quality, then that could be the problem.- AdmiralAkmir

"sound solution" for DT770s
I've got the 80 ohm version of the DT770 pro, and I've been using them with a Xonar DG. I should have a Schiit stack by this upcoming Wednesday, and then I'll be able to weigh in if you still haven't made a decision by that point.- AdmiralAkmir

Does Schiit stack come with required cables?
Yeah, I actually went there and grabbed an RCA and USB cable, seems really good prices compared to getting them from Schiit.- AdmiralAkmir

I'm assuming they come with their power adapters, but other than that what cables will I have to get separately?- AdmiralAkmir

sound signature of DT770 pro 80 vs Fidelio X1/28
Hey, thanks for the reply, you're actually the one who recommended the Phillips to me in the computer audio section. I'm using a xonar DG, which is sufficient enough to power them, and I can always turn off the amp with a pair of low impedance cans. It's not that the Beyer's sound bad or...- AdmiralAkmir

sound signature of DT770 pro 80 vs Fidelio X1/28
I've been listening to the Beyer's for a while now, but recently the Philips Fidelio X1 has caught my eye. They were recommended in another thread, and I'm curious to try an open back headphone, because I never have before. However, $230 is kind of steep. If the sound signature or sound...- AdmiralAkmir

Would I notice a difference in quality upgrading from Xonar DG to O2+Odac?
The Beyer's are freaking COMFORTABLE though, and I really love the build quality. I got buzzing in the left ear after a few weeks of having them, and literally took them completely apart to try and find the foreign object in the driver. I've taken things apart before and not been able to get...- AdmiralAkmir

So you're saying that there would be a more noticeable improvement in audio quality by upgrading the headphones instead of dac/amp?- AdmiralAkmir

Would I notice a difference in quality upgrading from Xonar DG to O2+Odac?
I have a pair of dt770 pro 80 headphones, the DG can drive them okay, the volume has to be kind of high but they still sound good. I've asked about other amps before, but what I'm really curious about is the DAC. The Xonar DG is a 35 dollar sound card, while the j2labs stuff is well over a...- AdmiralAkmir

Amp to go with Xonar DG and DT770 pro 80
I've gone through quite a few threads across several forums and I've seen a lot of Fiio recommendations, but there's this one guy over on overclockers who had some pretty definitive ideas about what pairs well with the DT770's And when asked if the Xonar STX would be a good choice ...- AdmiralAkmir

Amp to go with Xonar DG and DT770 pro 80
Hey, thanks for the reply, I've seen you're posts before in other threads, it seems like for PC audio you often times recommend sound cards over external units, I'm curious as to the reasoning. Is it because of the features, such as surround sound? Also how do sound cards compare to their...- AdmiralAkmir

Amp to go with Xonar DG and DT770 pro 80
I tried to revive an old thread of mine in the beginner section with this question, but it didn't get any hits, I think it would be better to ask here. I just got the DT770 80 yesterday and they sound pretty good through my Xonar DG, but I noticed that the volume has to be cranked up a lot...- AdmiralAkmir

Looking for $100-$150 headphones mainly for electronica
Hmmm, I've read some reviews, and they do sound awesome, but I'm just not ready to pull the trigger on cans at that price, I'd like to stay closer to $150. What about the Ultrasone HFI-580? Those seem comparable and I'm seeing them for around $160- AdmiralAkmir

What would be a reasonable price for these? I've seen several sites selling them for $230 + and there's one seller on amazon selling them for $195.- AdmiralAkmir
