That was my concern in looking at FiiO's previous Ax/Ex & Qx iterations. I suppose I'll wait on the A5 as it seems to offer the advantages of both the E12 & E12A.

I didn't get any screeching/crackling but the mixing isn't the cleanest. And an amp will make all the difference. I was a skeptic & now I believe.

To icrap classic users, any suggestions on improving sq & bass? My setup: icrap > L9 > e12 > SZ2000.   From the reviews I've read on headfi the e11k has an enjoyable 'warmer' quality though it's a dac/amp combo and all that amplification might make it worse?  Confused w/ e18.    

Is the e11k 'pair-able' w/ the e12k? I already own the e12k but would like a dac to replace my ipod (low end theory purposes) + added bass.   Strictly in terms of bass, does the e11k punch harder than the e07k?   Disregard.
