Pixel i have non-angled Brainwavz memory foam velours. I believe mid recession comes from the sheer thickness of the pads (distance from ear) I may have to try and cut the mesh on mine. Stock is just unholy on my valhalla 2 amp with E188CC valvo tubes. Completely in love with this headphone- Redshift Rider

I was stunned at the difference in sound when i changed stock pads for HM5 velours. Had them on for a week. It smoothens the sound as a whole. It's just way too smooth, i would keep turning the volume up :D Bass becomes very dominant, and hits quite well but a there is an impression of too...- Redshift Rider

Schiit Valhalla Tube Rolling thread.
I would suggest Philips/Valvo labeled E88CC. Important thing is that they are made in Harleen factory, Holland. (they have acid codes with delta symbol). Harleen made E88CCs are maybe little less warm overall, but they have greater clarity and soundstaging. They are also smoother and...- Redshift Rider

It took them 2 or 3 weeks to arrive (to Europe) if i remember correctly. They did lower the heat to the point that i could place and hold my hand on the amp. Also noticed some heat reduction when i moved away from russian 6n1p and some 6n23p tubes to PCC88 and E88CC tubes. They made...- Redshift Rider

I've read your post on schiit thread too. This is my reasoning: Option to roll tubes is a great "safety net". I would skip Vali and Valhalla 1 for that reason alone. If i were you i would save money and go straight for Bottlehead Crack (and then add speedball upgrade down the line) or if you...- Redshift Rider

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Hello, guys! I could use some tip :) I have a pair of valvo labeled pcc88 (harleen made, 70's) which i enjoy very much. How do they relate to harleen's e88cc tubes (miniwatts, valvos)? Should i expect something similar, but a bit more refined sound overall?- Redshift Rider

I am relatively new to rolling. Played around with russian 6n1p family for a bit and enjoyed the 60's novosibirsk 6n1p-e the most. Smooth, good detail and good soundstage. Right now i'm experimenting with PCC88 tubes. 70's Valvo PCC88 (made by philips harleen) rocks very hard. Great...- Redshift Rider

Completely silent, no unwanted noises :) You should definitely consider bottlehead crack, even used if possible! It gets nothing but great reviews.- Redshift Rider

Tube OTL amps are usually recommended for high impedance headphones. Nothing to do with taming the brightness. @Zeke, you already got some really good advice and insight here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/287325/minneapolis-meet/270#post_11665989...- Redshift Rider

i was joking ofc :) its just that there seems to be too much drama about "bright" headphones like T90 , hd700, he4, etc. and people seem quick to disregard them.- Redshift Rider

"warm, cold" is relative. It all depends on your current reference. HFI 580's sound sig is etched into your brain so thats your "starting point". If time is not a problem i would advise a whole week or two of listening nothing but T90, so your ears can adjust. Then go back to your...- Redshift Rider

Last night i was laying in the bed, with T90 on my head, listening to Type o Negative - Christian woman. I felt increadibly stretched in all directions, flat and solid. Valhalla 2 review coming soon!
I would highly recommend them, even if you are not changing tubes often. I noticed inconsistency in sound with my amp which was due to poor tube pins contact. Guess i was not inserting tubes in properly all the time. It was very noticeable in lower freq in particular: bass would sometimes...- Redshift Rider
