    Goodbye Cruel World

I have given up recommending any kind of headphone because everybody perceives sound differently since their ears and head are uniquely shaped. (Let alone the effects of different sources in varying environments.) Headphone shopping is a crap shoot and you just have to piss away a lot of...

Earbud woes, or maybe rant, MX550 v MDR-EP21LP V Koss "Sparkplug"

I have given up recommending any kind of headphone because everybody's ears and head are shaped differently, let alone the effects of different soucrces, and this radically affects the way everybody perceives the sound qualitites. In the end it's just a crap shoot. Goodbye cruel world.

SONY neck loop quality control problems

Based on my own experience and all the user comments here and on "audiocubes.com" , SONY has quality control/material quality problems on most of its buds/plugs (J20, EX51, EX71, EX81, E888 etc.) that have a neck loop wire. The common problem is that the insulation on the neck loop wire is...

Searching for the Perfect Earbud- Can you help me out, Please?

SONY has had quality control/material quality problems with the insulation on a lot of their buds/plugs (see user comments on "audiocubes.com"). The common problem (which I had myself with the J20) is that the insulation on the neck loop wire is too thin and starts to crack and shred after...

Searching for the Perfect Earbud- Can you help me out, Please?

How the highs sound to you and everyone else depends a lot on how the better buds fit (and are positioned in your ear). The CM7, K14P, E10, MX's and SONY 888 all have different fits to each individual's ear; hence different treble perceptions. Just spend the $30 for the K14P and try them out...

Searching for the Perfect Earbud- Can you help me out, Please?

The K14P is as crisp and detailed as it gets (other than CM7 perhaps). The better the source the better the sound. Definetly worth a try. I got them cheap by ordering them through a pro audio store whose distributor carried AKG.

Searching for the Perfect Earbud- Can you help me out, Please?

The K14P have very high build quality (better than SONY 888) in spite of their much lower price. Their midrange and treble are comparable to the SONY 888 although the SONY 888 probably has more bass. An electronic bass boost might help with the bass issues on the K14P. The SONY 888 was more...

Searching for the Perfect Earbud- Can you help me out, Please?

The AKG K14P are very clear transparent and REFINED. Not much bass, but you said you don't care about bass. I also recommend the SONY MDR-E10. Just angle drivers slightly away from the ear canal like the drivers on the Sennheiser PX10. The E10's are cheap enough to try out. For $15 or...

I think he's talking about the SONY MDR-ED31's. They came out in 2003. They are on audiocubes.com An English guy said they are "rubbish" i.e. sound awful.

    Half Bud, Half IEM?

They were sold in Canada a couple of years ago. People said they had bass, but didn't say much else about them. They were uncomfortable to some people due to the harder materials they used back then. I saw them awhile back on "audiocubes.com". They may still carry them. If they still...

I think the Audio-Technica CM7 or CM7 Titanium buds are in your price range. But check out "audiocubes.com" see what they got.

    Non in-ear earbuds

    Non in-ear earbuds

The MX400/500: Full sound The MX450/550: Very bright sound; too bright for me, no bass due to poor fit. The K12P/K14P: More transparent, clear, refined than MX__ buds, but thin sounding due to a lack of bass. Similar sonic signature to the big K501's. None of the above are comfortable...

The same can be said for the AKG and Sennheiser pimps. LOL.

Where's the bass in the K701 poll?

Might as well poll the K601 bass too. Someone said it was warmer.

    Non in-ear earbuds

Angle the SONY MDR-E10 buds outwards like the drivers of the Sennheiser headband buds PX10 (the looser the better) and you will hear great open clear extended spacious sound. Very comfortable. Inexpensive. Don't angle the E10 drivers inward or they will sound muffled. These are better...

    Good Phones for 100$

Angle the SONY MDR-E10 drivers outwards away from the ear canal like the drivers on the Sennheiser headband buds PX10 (the looser the better). Great open spacious clear extended sound. Very comfortable. Best buds under $50. They are $15 in Canada. Don't angle the E10 drivers inwards...

HD 25 worth the money over HD 25-SP?

The HD25-1 has a lot more bass and treble than the HD25SP. The HD25SP is a watered down version of the HD25-1 but is more forgiving on bad recordings and sources.

Koss KSC75's (i dont get what the hurrahs are for)

Angle the SONY E10 drivers outwards away from the ear canal like Sennheiser's headband buds PX10. Great sound! Inexpensive. Best bud under $50. Don't angle the E10's into the ear canal or they will sound muffled.

    SONY MDR-E10 Positioning

To get the E10's fantastic sound, position the SONY E10 drivers so that they are angled outwards as much as possible (similar to the angle of the drivers on the Sennheiser headband bud PX10). They should be facing away from the ear canal as much as possible, the LOOSER the seal the better...

    My AKG K14P Review

The SONY E10 buds are better than AKG k12p/k14p and Sennheiser MX400/500/450/550. The E10's are clear sounding, have bass, and are very comfortable due to their small size and shape. They are inexpensive (half the price of the other buds) but the sound quality is very high. They look like...

She should try SONY's MDR-E10 buds. They're inexpensive but have a high quality sound. Some people on this site say the JVC HP-FX55V plug style sound good. I haven't heard them though.

    Alessandro MS-1 Vs. Grado SR80's

People on this site say the MS1 has a smother (rolled off?, flatter?) treble than the SR80. Apparently the MS1 does classical music as well a rock, making it more of a general purpose headphone. Grados, with their non-flat frequency curve and forward midrange, are especially good for rock...
