K14P's mids and treble are almost, or as crisp and good as the E888. But the bass is lacking against the E888. Its bass is even weaker than a MX500, let alone a E888! But K14P's wires are very very rugged and stiff. Makes the ER6i and MX550's cord feels like wimps.

Other earbuds? DTX20 but i have not heard them before.

SONY has had quality control/material quality problems with the insulation
on a lot of their buds/plugs (see user comments on "audiocubes.com").

The common problem (which I had myself with the J20) is that the insulation
on the neck loop wire is too thin and starts to crack and shred after after
a couple of months of twisting. It happens with almost all their buds/plugs
that have a neck loop.

I don't know how to get SONY to fix the ******ing problem!

So my main choice is either the K14P's or try to risk another pair of E888s?

why not try out the k14p's? it is fun to try different earbuds.

Hey fellow austinite! Yep, I have decided to take the plunge and try the K14P. Can't be worse than the apple ipod earbuds I am stuck with right now.
