After more and more listening I think it is as Ian mentioned - The sound floor of the recordings... Correct me if I'm wrong - but it sounds like all recordings (or maybe most) have some sort of white noise in the background...this seems most prominent when there are long pauses in music or...

I would love to think I'm a recovering bass head...but I don't think I am...I love it....but I love it just as much as I love the other ranges...that's why I love the DT770's...because I feel that I get all the bass I ever want and (with the proper power) they are a damn good can all around.
