Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Thanks Rob, for taking the time to reply. Really appreciate it! I was at my normal listening level with the Rogers LS3/5a's directly connected to the 2Qute at 30% attenuation (70% volume level); so I expect the Hugo TT 2 to be more than able to achieve all desired volume levels. Moreover, I...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Hi Rob, And a big thank you for designing such amazing stuff! As a music lover and scientist I really like your approach. I have been using the 2Qute for almost three years now and I am still amazed about the details it is able to retrieve. I use the 2Qute with an old Cyrus Two amplifier...

    Airfoil: Bit-perfect playback?

I just tested Airfoil with the following set-ups: - iMac running iTunes > Airfoil > Windows XP machine with a Chaintech AV-710 soundcard (flashed to Prodigy 7.1) > Toslink > Cambridge Audio Isomagic S-700 (HDCD capable) - iMac running iTunes > Airfoil > Macbook Pro > Toslink > Cambridge...

    Foobar Passthrough with iTunes

I was fiddling a bit with foobar passtrough on iTunes 7. I used multi-plugin 2.4.2 and Foobar 0.94 with Kernel Streaming. Like some others I didn't have sound at first. I also got it working by switching Quicktime output to motherboard on-board sound rather than my AV-710 soundcard, thanks for...

    chaintech a-710 w/optical

There are several ways to achieve bit-perfect digital output with the Chaintech (flashing, Kernel Streaming, ASIO4ALL). Flashing works with any player software, ASIO4ALL and Kernel Streaming just with Foobar and Winamp. Search the forum, all information on this subject is there!

    Best Format?

wav! Every player supports it. Why go through the trouble of using anything else for just 40% less storing space. Only real problem is that the wav files themselves cannot contain tags. But your player's library can!

    Which would you buy?

I use the ESI/Audiotrak drivers for my Chaintech AV-710 and like them. If you want to use coaxial digital out and no breakout cable you may also consider the ESI Maya 44. Analog out of the Maya may be of lesser quality than the Juli@ but using digital out it will undoubtedly be just as good as...

    Realtek AC97 S/PDIF Out

You know the digital out of the AC'97 onboard sound will be resampled to 48kHz and will therefore not be bit-perfect? It will work quite well but not be optimal. To get bit-perfect digital output you will need to use a soundcard in this case.

    Need 16/44 SPDIF output, options?

Hi Kwitel. I am curious if you managed to recover your tags?

Gonna need the iTunes experts for this one:

No, it's not a bad format. It is compressed but okay.

Changing info in iTunes, having it tag the change?

If you had the option "Let iTunes manage your music files" active, the right tags might then be in a copy of your original files in the iTunes folder.

What format are you using? If you did not use wav but mp3 or aac or such then the information you entered later on in iTunes should be stored with the music files in the form of tags I believe. In that case you should be okay searching your drives for music files and dragging them into iTunes...

    clicking problem in soundcard>DAC setup

I have the same thing with my DAC, a Cambridge Audio Isomagic S700. It only appears a while after I stop playing music. I think I read somewhere that is has something to do with the clocks in the computer and in the DAC getting out of sync... Does anyone know more about this?

iTunes to Lite Dac-Ah via Chaintech AV710

The AV-710 itself has drivers that do not allow bit-perfect output but it can be 'flashed' (comparable with a BIOS update) to make it 'think' it is an Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1. Then you can use the better Audiotrak drivers, you loose the analog functionality of the AV-710 but you get a bit-perfect...
