Looking to test something for myself so I need a soundcard with toslink output at 16/44. Emu is a no go since its 24/44. Is the AV710 16/44? Thought I might get away with my onboard but its 16/48

Let me know.

Unusual as it may seem, the Emu line is fixed at 24bit. The M-Audio suggests its does 16 or 24 material depending. Which I would infer to mean the AV710 does as well and has toslink so win/win. But I've long since sold my Revo and never owned a Chaintech so guesses aren't worth much.

16/48 which is why its frowned upon. The X-Fi does 16/44 but no optical

Granted if my PC becomes my secondary transport I'll probably pick up an X-Fi anyway since it'll only be used to listen to music along side game sounds.

Problems with that are cost of cable that will reach the front of my case and the Plat combo itself. The rack still fed by a ribbon cable? Don't want to think about the noise and jitter picked up by that uber digital cable before it hits the toslink outputs

Yeah it still has a ribbon cable. I've been wondering about that.
