icon mobile doesn't cut it, need something far better

Hi I got the Nuforce Icon Mobile assuming it would be a decent step up from running off the jack out on my HP laptop. It wasn't the step I hoped it would be. I'm not using the amp much while on the move, but I travel a bit and need something that's easy to cary around in my laptop bag...

Bravo Audio - funny looking little tube amps

I've tried two different tubes on my Bravo amp and can't get them to work properly. The stock 6N11 tube works just fine but having gotten a glimpse of what other tubes can do, I want to replace it. The first tube I bought was the Brimar CV2492 (~$15). It sounded far better, but there was a...

Best Headphones for a iem guy with glasses Shure SRH840 vs Beyerdynamic

I've tried DT660, SRH840 and AKG 272HD while wearing glasses. Out of these, the 272 was by far the most comfortable due to less clamping force and soft pads. The DT660 clamps considerably more than the 272, but the SRH840 was deinitely the worst of them. At least with my glasses, the 840 is a no...

Got the G cushions locally for about $80. The MS-1000 mod ended up costing more than the cans :| But.... it was worth it! Love the soundstage on these, still working on getting the highs the way I want dem, got 2 open holes on the distancers at the moment. They work best at low volume for me...

Forgive me for not reading through all seventy-some pages, this might have been descussed before Have anyone tried the distancers with other pads? Since I'm not using my MS-1s at the moment, I decided to glue on the distancers and try it out with my quarter modded 414 pads. It resulted in...

    Closed for rock, < 250$

Paldepind, I considered Ultrasone, but I wasn't won over by the HFI780 reviews I read. And the ALO version was a bit too expensive. I actually had/used the DT250-80 for some 40 hours, about 5 years ago. It was nice enough but it wasn't that much better than my DT231 and far less portable. I...

Unfortunately I can not take part in any of the loan programs since we're not part of the European Union up here. I'm sure I'll like the Grado RS-1, but it's not an option. I need a closed can to replace my MS-1 due to leakage. The SRH840 do sound great, I'll try wearing it for fewer hours...

Seems the 271 and 272 are basically them same headphone, don't think they're for me. I considered the ATH-M50, but decided against it since it allegedly lacked a bit of detail. The cheapest Pro750 I found was $250 plus $50, add VAT and toll fee, and it's 400+. I know I said $250 in the title...

I've gotten som 50 hours on the SRH840 now, and they're performing very well! Just waiting for the bass to completely tidy up, otherwise they're great. Currently listening to the latest Muse album and they're outperforming my MS1s. But they're quite heavy, and it turns out that's a problem for...

HD600s Too Bright; HD650 or New Amp?

I once had a similar problem, everything was sounding bright. It turned out my old Sony dvp 905 (or what ever it was named) was to blame. I see you've tried a different source and it didn't make a world of difference. I have very limited experience with the HD600, on portable rig with a cmoy...

    A long and lasting love

My Beyer DT231 has been with me since 2004. The headband had to go, and the cans have been dampened a bit. I once bought the DT250-80 but returned them because the DT231 was doing such a good job.

    Which one to choose

Have only heard the HD595 briefly and I did not understand why they are getting much praise. I'm listening to rock though, and that doesn't seem to be the 595's strongest point. There's some info on these phones to be found here, like this one...
