Coming to the full sized cans world from iems (Sony ier z1r, Andromeda, etc), my first foray was the hd6xx. Is the hd800 still considered a good top tier headphone to get in the sub $1k range (used)? Or are there other better options now?

Thing is most of us don't use our iems with phones (LG being the exception). So if the default is with USB c that just means we will have to swap out the cable right off the bat which is annoying and costly. Secondly the quality of the USB c dac has to be very good to justify this switch...

I'm actually getting the sssss sound on high notes on my z1r as well, I'm pairing this with a dx220 amp9. Seems to be a bit better with the amp1. Anyone else experiencing this too?

Hi guys, it seems like my forum search is broken after the update. It will frequently return only 1 to 3 results when I know for a fact there are at least 30+ threads where those key words appear. It's inconsistent, sometimes when I search it works fine, 2 minutes later with the same keywords...

I'm curious as to what the actual benefits of cramming 14 bas in a tiny iem package, at some point there's got to be diminishing returns / tradeoffs to making the bas smaller and smaller so you can cram more in from an engineering perspective.

Mmm that makes sense. Also if they're complaining about noise when the phone touches the cable that's not dap dependent. Any wire will pick up interference that's close enough. Unless you're using a shielded balanced cable, but even then it can pickup some.
