I mean the smaller planar has mixed reviews. I think this is a more exciting DT880. All rounder with some flaws but generally work well and has more soul than DT880 (that's a low bar). Probably on par with HD 600, but man there are some peaks in the freq response that gets a bit annoying sometimes.

Trust me I don't really need to. The day something significantly cheaper is as good or better. Then I need to. I was hoping this would be it. But it performs like $300 headphones, nothing more, nothing less. $300 market is pretty competitive now and I'm not 100% sure this is better than HD6xx...

Man was going to put up my M1060 up for $350 before I read the flipping rule. I'll just return it.   It's ok. Can't hold a candle to the HD 800.

So is there an alternative cable maker to lunashop for IM series headphones? I'm just looking for some cable with no memory loops. I've gone through 3 sets of lunashop cables already (2 broke and my current one works everywhere else but has a buzzing noise with Nexus 6p when nothing is playing...

Besides Lunashop is there any other place to buy cables? Preferably a Westone style braided type. I have had 3 cables from Lunashop. Rather pay more for something in the US and nicer.

After reading some thread I'm starting to wonder if the K701 I recently bought from here is fake or not. It certainly didn't sound too much different than what I remembered when I bought a pair new around 2010. But this new pair I bought (serial 23682) has L/R on the bottom closer to the cups...

  Slightly more treble than stock cable is what I experienced. But a lot more comfortable due to lack of memory cable. I did have problem with it's plug, but it's too much of a pain to ask for a replacement and it still works. So I'm still using it. For $25 I can't complain.

Unless the sound improves dramatically with burn in it's in the "no buy" category to me. I have heard worse, but not a whole lot worse.

So did it improve with burn in? I have the exact same feeling at first listen. I haven't tried the Piston 2 but it is genuinely one of the worst sounding IEM I have heard out of the box. I'm burning them in now while listening to my IM02 as the Piston out of the box was making me hate music.

Well Piston 2 was faked and Piston 3 will be faked. I just think the timeline is a bit quick if you are expecting fakes now for something that was announced at the end of last month.

Received those today. Maybe they need burn in (dynamic driver after all). But first impression isn't particularly good compared to my IM02. But then again it's 1/5 the price.

I don't think the IM02 is unbearably harsh on mobile phones. My OPO is already quite bright and it's tolerable with the IM02 on most songs. Female vocals on those are really great.
