MEElectronics M2: Not bad for $6.50
Just got a pair from Buy.com and I got to say they aren't bad at all. Lets put it this way, I've heard < $50 iems that sound worse (and if you include the Bose iem, then these sound better then $100 iems). At first they were gritty and a bit peaky in the upper trouble but they settled down with...- SilverCans

Need balanced integrated amp for speakers.
I need your opinion for a truly balanced integrated amp (not one that just accepts balanced xlr and converts it, balanced all the way through). Hopefully something < $600 used. Just don't know what's out there that is balanced and sounds great.- SilverCans

grubdac sounds a little dark/thick, lacks air. normal?
I built it with the wima caps. I think it sounds a little thick/dark, missing air. Is this how it is? Vista -> Foobar -> ASIO_4_ALL (also tried just whatever windows recognized it as instead of ASIO) Here are my ASIO settings. Are they correct?- SilverCans

Monster Turbine Pro Copper: A lion or lamb?
Every so often I’ll be walking through the audio aisle at the local electronics retailer to see what new products are available. On one of these visits, I noticed a pair of Monster Cable in-ear monitors (IEM); could it be, Monster was now in the business of producing IEMs? I guess so. As many of...- SilverCans

Quick review of DAC19-DSP
Funny how things work out in this hobby. When I first came to head-fi.org all I was after was finding a decent pair of headphones that cost no more then $50, which at the time seemed like an outrageous amount for a pair of headphones; oh how true the old head-fi adage, “Welcome to Head-fi.org...- SilverCans

Any thoughts Bantam vs Grub DAC?
Try to decide from a sound perspective which is better. Assume the default good output caps on the Bantam (I think Wima or Vishay MKT).- SilverCans

Your thoughts, vote now: RE0, Eterna, HJE900, Cyclone PR1 Pro
Looking for a somewhat affordable IEM that has the following characteristics: 1. Does not sound bloated (i.e overly boomy and/or rolled off highs) 2. Has very good to great detail in the highs 3. Mids that are not recessed but not too forward or honky sounding 3. Tight punchy bass. I'd...- SilverCans

My JRC 4556AD based portable amp has a very high noise floor (I can hear quite a bit of hiss). Can I reduce this somehow or this inherent to this particular Opamp. Schematic similar to the following, too lazy to draw the exact schmatic I made for this thing.- SilverCans

Impressions of Xtrememac FS1 Earphone: (56k modem may be slow)
Intro: After purchasing my Ipod, I quickly realized that the stock ear buds weren’t so great, so I was on a quest to find some earphones that sound decent and didn’t fall out of my ear every time I moved around. Unfortunately, however, my father became ill, and had to put my search temporarily...- SilverCans

K701 sibilant and very bright???
I had the chance to hear a new pair of K701 using a RA-1 amp (battery powered) and IPOD and thought it was very bright (sometimes piercing) and had a lot of sibilance. Is this really the characteristic of the K701? Using the same songs on a pair of Koss KSC35 and HD650 didn't sound this way at...- SilverCans
