Repeating my recommendation for UM1s from the original site. They're stylin' too. Stripped down professional look over shiny stuff any day.- monolith

Westone UM1s would be my choice. You can also get ER-4Ps used for under $130.- monolith

192 kbs and 320 kbs, is there really a difference?
I've only heard obvious differences with some music. With a lot of music, I'd be surprised if someone could reliably ABX 192kbps from lossless.- monolith

post pics of your headphone set up and listening area
Hey emurray, where did you get that shelf that holds you LPs and such? I notice a lot of Ikea furniture in the room - might that be another piece?- monolith

That Sanford is a nice design. I might get one to see if it can hold a candle to the Rotring 600.- monolith

My Little Cable Anecdote
Nice to hear about an audiophile who uses his ears rather than his eyes and wallet to judge sound. -
High quality music downloads?
Once you buy music, you have the right to download it through whatever, otherwise illegal, channels you wish. For example, once you buy a CD you can go to what.cd and download a FLAC copy for personal use. Same goes for purchased downloads. That said, buy CDs. Don't buy downloads.- monolith

Ipod touch/phone apps you would like to see
A note program that is significantly better than the pile of garbage Apple supplies. A basic Python compiler would be nice also. Oh, something that'd allow more customization of the interface. Basically, the things available after jailbreaking need to be available without jailbreaking.- monolith

Shure E530 vs Westone 3

Wet Shaving
Just picked up a Merkur HD the other day to go with the Proraso and relatively inexpensive boar brush I've had for about a month. So much better. I just ordered a bunch of cream and soap samples to see which one I might get lots of. Still looking to get some different kinds of blades to try...- monolith

Rega P1 or Pro-ject debut III?
I'd be suspicious of any statement as general as "turntable A has a wider soundstage than turntable B". That doesn't really make sense without *at least* talking about cartridges or something. Build quality, availability of spare parts, upgrade path and speed stability would be my main...- monolith

Online FLAC Music Store w/ iTunes Store selection = mythical creature?
Just buy the music wherever it's cheapest at any quality, then find it for download somewhere and download it. Find a private music torrent site that has an excellent FLAC selection, then just download the things you've already paid for. I don't understand why people look for lossless...
