OTG, Bluetooth, or other? (iPhone question)
Been a while. So it seems I will be doing some traveling soon and I figured I’d pull out my FiiO Q1 (no idea what generation) and use that. It worked great with my old phone (Galaxy Note something or other), but now I have an iPhone (12 Pro Max). I knew I would need a new OTG cable and that’s...- liquidzoo

Looking at a new amp/dac
Beyer DT770 Pro and Grado SR225i Nothing terribly demanding, but the dac/amp helps. I'll take a look at the hifimediy dacs. If I'm going with just a dac and keeping the E09K, I might go with a Schiit Modi 2 (the older one) from Amazon or Closeout/B-Stock from Schiit.- liquidzoo

Looking at a new amp/dac
First a bit of background: I use my amp/dac exclusively at my computer. No portable use (I have a portable amp for that). Until recently, I had a FiiO E17/E09K combo that worked well, despite its age. I bought the E17 used from the marketplace here and have used it for a number of years. A...- liquidzoo

Need help with cables
From the Amazon listing, it looks like the RCA/Coaxial terminals on the back are outputs, not inputs. You should be able to attach that to your computer via usb and be just fine.- liquidzoo

Need noise-cancelling earbuds for audiobooks only
I realize that wearing headphones while driving is legal in some areas, I can't help but think it's not a great idea...maybe that's just me being old, though. Much better would be to get an aux cable or bluetooth radio in the car and play audiobooks that way. Otherwise I would probably suggest...- liquidzoo

Best earphones for running?
I just bought the Knowledge Solutions ZS6 and the TRN Bluetooth adapter form them from Amazon for when I'm out riding my bike. To me they sound amazing. Memory wire over the ear helps keep them where I want them, and some comply tips to round it out. All in all, pretty cheap and surprisingly...- liquidzoo

Revisited: Best NC on-ear (ideally portable) headphones under $150.00
One thing I would do: If you have a Guitar Center local to you, go there and go to their Pro Audio room and take a look at the headphones there. If it's like the ones near me, they will let you try out some of the headphones if you ask. They should have the Audio-Technicas I mentioned...- liquidzoo

Difference between type A and B potentiometers?
A quick Google says that A100k is an audio taper, and a b100k is a linear taper. Other than that, I'm not sure what the difference would be or if they are interchangeable.- liquidzoo

Revisited: Best NC on-ear (ideally portable) headphones under $150.00
The DT770 is probably not for you, if that is the case. Very V-shaped and the bass can tend to bleed. Some people think the highs are a bit too much as well. But, I wear my DT770 all the time on the airplane and feel that the isolation that they provide is plenty. I should note that I use...- liquidzoo

Revisited: Best NC on-ear (ideally portable) headphones under $150.00
Another question is: Do you need Active Noise Cancellation or do you just need Noise Isolation? ANC imparts artificial noise into the cups to block out surrounding noise, Noise Isolation will just reduce background noises without anything artificial. For the latter, depending on music...- liquidzoo

Revisited: Best NC on-ear (ideally portable) headphones under $150.00
Wi-Fi will have no impact on Bluetooth at all. As long as your phone remains within reasonable distance of the headphones, you'll be fine, plus no headphone wire to get snagged. Trade-off is slightly lower sound quality, but if you have ANC on your headphones, you will have that regardless.- liquidzoo

Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
Late to the party, but here's my take: I have what I believe to be the same version you do, and it definitely supports aptX. Here's how I can tell: On my phone (Note 8) - Enable Developer Settings (Settings > About > tap version number a bunch). Go into Developer Settings and about halfway...- liquidzoo

Picked up the TRN BT3 bluetooth adapter for my ZS6 from Amazon (out of stock for the Prime version now). Despite the item page, it does support aptX which is nice. Initial (30 second) impressions are that the treble is much more pronounced with the bt adapter than it is corded. Time will tell...- liquidzoo

Need an AMP/2nd headphone for beginner setup
The Magni 3 is an amp. And while the DT770 (even the 80 or 250 Ohm versions) don't need an amp to work, they absolutely benefit from one.- liquidzoo

Paracord Sleeving, Sizes, ETC.
Older thread, sorry. Are you trying/wanting to sleeve it with the rubber outer coating on or without? With, it might be a tight fit for 550 and you might want to go up. If you cut the outer coating away, though, you should be able to fit the 4 internal wires into 550 with no issues.- liquidzoo

Pulled the trigger on a set of ZS6s today. Will wait and see about the bluetooth. Maybe I'll get some sort of sleeve or belt instead (though bluetooth would be nicer). Need some foam tips, unless by chance the ones for my BlueBuds also fit...doubting that, though. Looking forward to hearing...- liquidzoo

I'm seeing that. Doesn't look like the new one is on Amazon (yet) based on the Q&A, though. I will look into an adapter like that. I was hoping to not have the long cord (plus having the controls working would be nice). Not in a super big hurry, though, so I can take my time. One additional...- liquidzoo

This thread (coupled with the price, naturally) has me seriously considering these for working out; but I do have some questions: Has anyone tried the bluetooth module(s) with the ZST/ZSR/ZS6? If so, do you know what bluetooth codecs are supported? I appear to have missed getting the ZSR in...- liquidzoo

Bluetooth IEMs?
Thanks for the opinion here, I do appreciate it. I think that's the main issue - limited choices, especially in what I am looking for which I will add one more thing to: aptX and/or AAC bluetooth codec support. Looks like all of the above choices have that, so I should be good there. I will...- liquidzoo
