IE8's - Reply From Sennheiser Ref Fit
Had my IE8 for a few months now and never got a good enough fit with any of the stock tips. The large double flange were best for me but isolation and comfort were big issues. I think isolation is really important for earphones because they are used a lot in outside noisy locations. I was close...- theitchybeard

Sennheiser IE 8 vs. Shure SE310
I have owned the 310's and currently own the IE8. As other members have said the IE8's are at a higher level than the 310's in sound quality. In terms of isolation when I first got the IE8 and used stock tips they didn't isolate anywhere near well enough for me and I nearly sent them back...- theitchybeard

SE530 vs IE8 vs SA6......
I think for the music that you listen to the IE8 would be the best bet. I listen to mainly drum and bass and the bass impact of the IE8's is superb. I use my 530's for rock and hardcore.- theitchybeard

IE 8 mod
Try putting the shure foam onto the IE8 first, push it right down to the bottom so it is kind of scrunched up. Then put the MEDIUM sennheiser single flange onto the IE8 as normal, but with the main flange part which goes into your ear inside out. Then pull the foam up a bit and into shape again...- theitchybeard

Received Shure SE530's - considering a change, HELP!
There is a big difference in these phones, but both are great, I know I have both. Just remember to give the IE8 a bit of time, don't listen to people suggesting that they over emphasize the highs and bass, you can only really make an honest opinion on a set of earphones or headphones if you've...- theitchybeard

Should I Get the Cowon D2 or D2+?
I have a D2 and an Iaudio 7, just wanted to say that I prefer the sound from the I7, the bass isn't rolled off like on the D2 and it has a slightly warmer sound. If you are going purely for music then it's definately worth considering. Obviously the D2 is better for video and in my opinion looks...- theitchybeard

Question about bitrate and cowon d2
Ripping to FLAC first is definately a good idea. So when players memories get so good that we are all walking about with terabytes of memory in our pockets one day, mp3 will not be necessary any more and lossless formats will be the norm. Then it will be nice to not have to re rip everything again.- theitchybeard

IE 8 mod
People really need to try this idea, it totally saved the IE8's for me. I am using the small shure foams rather than the comply now but it worked really well with both. Best way to do it is to first de-core the foam, then to put that straight on the IE8 and push it down as far as possible to...- theitchybeard

Received Shure SE530's - considering a change, HELP!
Just remember that the 530's sound great straight away, the IE8's definately need a lot of burn in to reach their full potential. They'll start sounding good after around 20 hours, but they really need at least a couple of hundred to start sounding excellent, then at around the 300-400 hour mark...- theitchybeard

Received Shure SE530's - considering a change, HELP!
True, with my 310's the shure manual recommended wearing them up or down, but with the 530's nothing was mentioned about wearing them cable down, they are just really not designed for it. Of course it can be done if the user feels comfortable with it, but it's not for everyone.- theitchybeard

On the 530's I always wear the cable over the ear, I really couldn't wear them down, especially now that the cables have molded into a curved shape from being around my ears, if you wear them down it would straighten out the cable and that is when the older 530's cables start cracking to bits...- theitchybeard

I definately agree with the D2 bass rolloff, if you want similar SQ but with better bass, the Iaudio 7 is a good choice. It just sucks for video- theitchybeard

I have the IE8 and the 530's and I guess the shure's can be worn wire down, but they weren't really designed to be worn that way. I really can't get them to seal properly with the wire down especially if you are moving about a lot like at the gym, nowhere near as comfortable as wire up...- theitchybeard

Shure Warranty Question...
Ebay retailers aren't authorized shure dealers, there's a good chance shure won't replace them. I would give them a call first and see...- theitchybeard

Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
I've gone back over onto the shure medium foamies under stock large silicone tips. I agree with Edward Ng that maybe it's the sound for me, slightly less dark than the T-400's with silicone. I get the hybrid sony tips next week so maybe they will improve the sound further paired with the shure...- theitchybeard
