CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest
I’m mostly looking for some IEMs to exercise with. I’ve had a lot of problems in the past with moisture breaking earbuds but a lot of the exercise focused models I tried didn’t sound great.- buemba

Amplifier suggestion for old passive speakers
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into that model. Ideally I'd want something that accepts analog/line out as well as optical, but it's not a requirement. -
Amplifier suggestion for old passive speakers
Hello, Recently while helping my parents clean their basement I found their old stereo, a Sony FH-E838CD. The system is busted (It randomly stops working after minutes of activity), but the speakers are in pretty good shape. Does anybody have a good recommendation for an amp that I could use...- buemba

Denon AH-MM400
Thanks for the reply! Mmm, I hope that part about them not being meant to be removable is untrue. Having user replaceable part is a big deal for me in headphones above $200.00 since so many manufacturers don't offer support where I live...- buemba

Denon AH-MM400
Does anybody know if the ear pads are replaceable? One of the reviews here said they didn't look like it, but he wasn't 100% sure.- buemba

Looking for a new pair of portable on-ear headphones
Unfortunately I'm not fluent enough in audiophile lingo to tell you whether I prefer a flat or colored sound. All I know is that of all the phones I've ever owned (Audio-Technica ATH700, Sennheiser HD650, HD25 Aluminium, Beyerdynamic T90 and a bunch of earbuds ranging from $10 to $150) my...- buemba

Looking for a new pair of portable on-ear headphones
So I'm in the market for a new pair of on-ear portable headphones to be used straight out an iPhone. After some reading I narrowed my list of options to the following models (Though I'm not tied to it, so if you have other recommendations I'm all ears): KEF M500 Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2...- buemba

What was your first headphone purchase after coming to Head-Fi?
When I started lurking: Audio-Technica ATH-A700 (Loved it) When I created my account: Beyerdynamic T90 (Didn't like it unfortunately, so it was quickly replaced with a Sennheiser HD 650)- buemba

Sennheiser HD25 Aluminium 25th anniversary edition review
Does anybody have a recommendation for a shorter aftermarket cable that's not prohibitively expensive? The Oyaide HPC-HD25 seems promising, but I'm sure there are other options as well. Also, what's the type of screws holding the cable in place? I can't recognize them.- buemba

Why don't more headphones have replaceable cables?
Ideally every part of a high-end pair should be easily user-replaceable. The fact that the Fidelios X1 don't have user-replaceable earpads kept me from buying one and the cable in the Beyers is why I'll keep avoiding them unless I find some killer deal. I'm more than willing to sacrifice a...- buemba

Proper amp etiquette?
I've been reading conflicting reports regarding proper headphone amp usage and am hoping you guys could help clears a couple of things up: a) I saw some people comment that you should always first turn the amp on and only then hook your headphones up to it, because the "pop" generated during...- buemba

What is the cheapest humanly possible portable headphone amp?
Can't vouch for its quality since I never used it, but the FiiO E6 can be found for $25.00 - $30.00.- buemba

Is it really worth upgrading to more expensive headphones?
If you're happy with what you have then no, I don't think it's worth upgrading. Yes there will always be better stuff than what you have, but that's true of everything. My policy is to get the best I can afford now and only worry about replacing/upgrading when it breaks.- buemba

Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread
Thanks for the replies regarding budget amps. It's a relief to know a Vali (Which I'll be ordering soon) is enough to drive the T90 because I was starting to fear I had purchased the headphone equivalent of a Ferrari to drive in a mud track.- buemba

Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread
Hey guys, I have a T90 on the way and would like to know what's a good and affordable amp I could pair with it? From what I understand my Xonar DX has a decent enough DAC but I do need to invest in a dedicated amp to get the most out of it. Since I already spent $500.00 on the headphones if...- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
Oh wow, thanks a ton for the suggestion! Gonna see if I get lucky with any of the auctions and manage to snag one of those amps for around $ 50.00 shipped. Edit: Which isn't an indictment of the product's quality, just of my cheap nature.- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
As it turns out I was wrong, it's actually $260.00. Just one of the perks of living in Brazil. Another perk is having absolutely no support or warranty for several brands, including Beyerdynamic. So here's hopping the DT 880 is built like a tank...- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
Pro it is then, thanks. My listening environment is kinda quiet for the most part. In truth closed cans would be better suited to me because I do get the occasional airplane flying by, specially on weekends, but I got tired of not being able to hear when my family calls me while I wear the...- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
Guess it's the DT880 then. Gonna read a bit more before I make the purchase, but it seems to be pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Is there much difference between the Pro and the Premium models? There's a $106.82 difference between both models on Amazon currently. And yeah, I'll...- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
The 32 version appears to be discontinued so I can't find it for cheap. From my admittedly limited understanding it seems the 250 version would sound a bit quieter on my DX when compared to the 32 version (Or the AD700x and Q701), right? I think I'll take the Q701 off the table. I love the...- buemba

Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700
Thanks for the replies so far! Keep the suggestions coming. Man, I was all set to get the DT880 but then read that my Xonar is too weak to drive it effectively (Apparently it caps at 100-Ohm?). Bummer, since seeing at least one person describe it as "like wearing a pair of pillows in your...- buemba
