Help me upgrade from my Audio-Technica ATH-A700

Mmm... The SBZ cost $230.00 around here and I can't find the Magni anywhere. Gonna have to do some research to see how much I'd be able to get for my used DX, but it looks like replacing it wouldn't be very cheap.

$230 for the Sound blaster Z??
Are you sure you not listing the price for the SB-ZxR?
Where do you live?

As it turns out I was wrong, it's actually $260.00. Just one of the perks of living in Brazil.

Another perk is having absolutely no support or warranty for several brands, including Beyerdynamic. So here's hopping the DT 880 is built like a tank...

Anyway you could connect the Xonar DX to the Yamaha receiver?
Using optical or analog (3.5mm to RCA) cable.
Then you could just use the Yamaha to drive the DT880s.

  They're in different rooms, sadly.
I'll replace the DX with something better. It won't be now, but I'll do it eventually.

The Schiit Magni or O2 or PA2V2 amplifiers would work with the Xonar DX.

The PAV2V (Pocket Amplifier 2 Version 2) sells on eBay and ships from Canada.

Oh wow, thanks a ton for the suggestion! Gonna see if I get lucky with any of the auctions and manage to snag one of those amps for around $ 50.00 shipped.

Edit: Which isn't an indictment of the product's quality, just of my cheap nature.
