Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Amp or...
I would prefer a full kit due to the simplicity of it all, but if you went the short kit route than I would totally understand.- drclaw

New Dream Theater song
I'm not judging it yet. I was hoping that with their old drummer out of the picture (he did a lot of the writing) that we would be treated to something new. You are right though, if they had release something radically different than their usual, they would have caught a ton of flack from... -
New Dream Theater song
New Dream Theater song is up on their youtube page. http://www.youtube.com/roadrunnerrecords I'm a little disappointed with it. I was hoping for something new, but this is more of the same old. Still it's not terrible. Also, the new drummer seems a lot like Portnoy. The album A... -

Suggestions similar to Modest Mouse, Wintersleep, and Explosions in the Sky; Help!
Also check out some God Speed! You Black Emperor and This will Destroy You. They both are somewhat similar to Explosions in the Sky. Have really soft parts but then they slowly build it up and it goes back to soft and so on. -

New Agalloch Album 2010!
Quote: Yeah, I ordered it from them. Mine was shipped from Hong Kong. Overall I thought the album was absolutely amazing. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the new drummer, but I dig him. He is really clean and precise. This will definitely be one of my favorite albums for... -

Pale Folklore
...bass I can't really pick out the individual strikes. It sounds almost like a bunch of shoes in a dryer. It also muffles the bass guitar. So like bob said, it must just have been recorded poorly. *sorry for the quasi-rambling. Typing as I listen. It is still an excellent album. -
Pale Folklore
Quote: If only I could find the original vinyl.:( I haven't noticed anything wrong with the percussion, but I haven't given it a listen in a while. I'll pop it in right now and report back. -
Who here still reads?
I love to read; however, at this moment I have no time to read novels. Instead I am constantly reading sections from my textbooks, or head-fi. Now I'm lucky to find time to read the school newspaper. I remember, as a kid, going to the library several times a week and getting armfuls of...- drclaw

Orchestra + Rock?
I too have to suggest Therion. Gothic Kabbalah, Lemuria, and Sirius B are great albums. They have a new one out, but I have yet to hear it. Symphony X is another good one. The Odyssey is by far my favorite album of theirs. Also try Nightwish as others have suggested. -
New Agalloch Album 2010!
