HD 650 and Amp, DAC, or AMP/DAC?
I disagree with you actually. The phones are fine as a start, he can upgrade and change his source and power as the years pass. The good part about the hd650 is you can really hear the changes in source and amp choice. It will be a fun and eventually an expensive project for the OP. Quote:- classic_rock_69

Balanced Phono Stage....
I'm in the market for one now, where is a good starting point on these? I assume I can plug in my MMF5 into one no? I'm interested in the lowest spectrum of balanced phono stages, don't really know where is a good place to begin. Seems like they are all very pricey...- classic_rock_69

Denon D2000: ahhh so disappointed!
The d2000's are the best headphones I have ever had. They are big, dynamic, great bass, cleer mids. IT's like being at a concert because it's so full and thrilling. I've had grado 225, 325i, senn 600, 650, akgk701, technica adh2000. Let them burn in a LOOOONG time and use a nice powerfull...- classic_rock_69

balancing cable, Is this Correct???
Well ya, There are two cables on the right side and two cables on the left side, one is a gorund and the other is a signal wire........Correct me if I am wrong. So therefore there has to be one open pin on the right and left side right? and does it matter which pin is open?- classic_rock_69

balancing cable, Is this Correct???
I am reterminating my sennie headphone cable to balanced. I am using two 3 pin male xlr connectors. So is it correct that I attach the ground to pin 3 and signal to pin 2 and leave pin 1 blank? I did it for both sides. I've heard conflicting ideas on this so I want to make sure this is ok...- classic_rock_69

Who's new to vinyl & why?
My father used to have a fantastic Jazz and classic rock collection in his twenties. He gave them to a friend when he was moving and of course has never seen them again. He hasn't had a vinyl record in 30 years or so. I just recently changed that and bought him a bunch of vinyl(40 records)...- classic_rock_69

M^3 with 8065 op-amps, Little Dot MK IV, Darkvoivce 336i, HELP!
M^3 is a fantastic amp, far better than the LD mk4 in every respect except maybe soundstage being a bit smaller than the mk4. You'll really like it for metal.- classic_rock_69

Help... K701 HD650's or HD600?
I've tried all of the above with the LD mk4 and liked the hd600's the best due to their neutrality and clarity. 650's I wouldn't bother with unless it's balanced and k701's weren't that great with it, they need more power.- classic_rock_69

Does the HD650 sound slow?
Your attitude that cables and balancing don't make a substantial difference seems to be based on nothing, Have you even heard an apache(or something like that) with high end source and 650's? no? I didn't think so. Good cables and high end source/amp that are balanced make a HUGE difference...- classic_rock_69

Herandu, you should have been banned from this site a long time ago. Spreading your crap about the beresford. It's a cheap dac that sounds ok, there is nothing special about it, now shut up. I wasn't that impressed with my zhaolu, although I did notice a difference from my cd player. It...- classic_rock_69

Those hd600's will scale very well as you continue your audio journy. New amps and sources will be obvious and enjoyable. hd600's are a fabulous single ended headphone for all kinds of music listening. Enjoy.- classic_rock_69
