The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)
Hi folks, I'm looking for a closed, maybe semi-closed, headphone for home listening, have an RME ADI-2 to power it. Looking to fall within budget (600,000won korea / $400/$450USD). I listen to chill out, downtempo, rock (Floyd, Led Zeppelin), a bit of 80s/90s house. Austrian Audio Hi-x60 and...- kojebee

Lime Ears introduction and Model X universal announcement!
I enjoy my Lime Ears Model X. Clear sound, but musical, even with the phones in their neutral configuration. Is there a closed headphone, reasonably flat, but with musicality?- kojebee

How is the comfort on these compared to the 780? I had the 780's, loved the sound but disliked the clamp force.- kojebee

Kennerton ODIN, MAGISTER, VALI, Magni, Gjallarhorn, Rögnir, Thridi, Wodan, Thekk, and Thror Discussion.
Shure 1540, was ok, but found it a bit boring, perhaps a touch too warm and bassy, missing a bit of treble sparkle. Denon AH-D7200, didn't mind it, but wasn't great with music with a lot going on with it. Treble lacking. Haven't liked any Sennheiser headphones really, HD600 probably the best of...- kojebee

Acoustune Impressions thread
Leaning towards the 1670 or 1677, price performance, bang for the buck for genres listened to, and sound stage preference (think both would have adequate bass). Which of the models has the 'tamer' treble? 1670 price is 795,000 won, 1677 is 982,000 won. Would the 1677 be almost 200,000 won...- kojebee

Acoustune Impressions thread
Thanks Ehjie! So many choices, confusing. I think my budget runs to 1695/1697/1790 area (all prices similar in South Korea when I reside, ranging from 1,395,000-1,490,000won). 1657/1677 are around 890,000won. Do levels in sound quality ramp up a lot from say 70-77ss to the 95/97/90 area, or...- kojebee

Acoustune Impressions thread
Hi Folks, Which Acoustune model would you say has the best soundstage, imagining, clarity and with a reasonable punch in the bass? I have the HS1300ss, which I enjoy, but feel lacks clarity and separation. I tried the HS2000MS, which I liked for its clarity, punch and imaging, but a bit too...- kojebee

Craft Ears Reviews/Impressions Thread
Thanks productred! I'll be using an RME ADI-2 FS mostly, sometimes my CEC headphone out of my CD player, and a Cowon DAP for occasional portable usage. I also use a Colorfly dongle. I was originally going to buy over ear closed headphones, but was pleasantly surprised at how far IEMs seem to...- kojebee

Craft Ears Reviews/Impressions Thread
Old fogie here:smile: I'm looking for IEMs for mostly electronica (chill out, downtempo etc and 80s/90s house) and some rock such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Would the Aurum's fit the bill? Having read reviews, the Aurum's, Acoustune HS1695ti (I currently have HS1300ss which I like for...- kojebee

Austrian Audio HI-X55
I listen to perhaps 70% chill out, ambient, downtempo etc, 80s house 10%, rock 10% (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin), 10% pop, classical. Reviews led me to Austrian audio / AKG for my preference for good imaging, sound staging, PRAT, bass when required, build quality (as my previous Focal headphone...- kojebee

Intime SORA: Giant killer IEMs from Japan?

The discovery thread!
Recently bought some more Elecom after my good impressions of my first purchase of the brand. Even better this time, the Elecom EHP R/HH1000 earphones. Very good soundstage, more bass, but not bleeding at all into the mids, musical whilst detailed. They look a bit bulky, but are light weight and...- kojebee
