Errors ripping CD -> FLAC Foobar2k
This is really the first time I've tried ripping right to FLAC. Something is wrong somewhere and google hasn't been much help to me. I get an error log that looks like: 10 out of 10 tracks converted with major problems. Source: "cdda://00B4022D" / index: 1 Audio CD extraction...- ctlaurin

You know you're an audiophile when...
Quote: I just went to a Royksopp concert and was thinking I was doing a terrible thing to my ears as I was right up front and getting the full effect of the bass.- ctlaurin

Headphone Sightings 2
I work at a grocery store in the grocery department. I bag rarely but I bagged for like 10 minutes cause it was busy. I bagged a guy's grocerys and noticed he was wearing Koss KSC75's. I said that those are a good choice of headphones. He responded saying they only cost $15. And I said, but they...- ctlaurin

Alessandro MS1i Ruined Driver R.I.P ... :(
On second thought, that could be the magnetic coil wire. Maybe my driver was always like this and I've never analyzed the sound as much before. But either way, I do not see any obvious damage to the drivers through the holes.- ctlaurin

Alessandro MS1i Ruined Driver R.I.P ... :(
What did you use to make the holes? Also I seem to be having the same problem. Though I have heard this sort of thing before, it could be due to hair on the driver. It is possible to remove them. Right now I am looking under a microscope projecting light from behind and can see in one of...- ctlaurin

Alessandro MS-1 Pads
If you bend the headband a little bit it may relieve the pressure, though I still found the comfies to be uncomfy. I've never tried the HD414 pads, but I hear some people prefer them to the stock comfies. I would suggest 1000'ing them. Though it may cost a bit for both the G cush pads and...- ctlaurin

Time for a little photo op! Since the volume doesn't matter on the E7, I put it at 11 as a joke.- ctlaurin

JMoney Headband colors?
I have the dark brown version. And honestly, the flash on my camera does seem to contrast it a little more. It doesn't really look this vibrant.- ctlaurin

I used a glue gun and a tooth pick to even out the bead. I put the pads on. And then my face has been like this ever since. "Goodbye" by Ulrich Shnauss is making me cry now.- ctlaurin

So I now have all the parts necessary for the mod. But I was wondering what people use for the glue. I was thinking of hot glue as it is something that I have. Any thoughts?- ctlaurin

So I really can't wait to begin the modding process. I bought a J$ headband, that that thing is great. Waiting on the distancers from Nick (thank you :) ) But there is only one thing. I purchased the g cush's from AV hifi as Amazon didn't seem to have them. AV hifi kindly sent me an email...- ctlaurin

Grado Fan Club!
I got my Alessandro MS-1's a couple weeks ago and I am enjoying them much more than my HD555's. I think I may just sell them. I am currently in the process in 1000ing the MS-1 to open up the soundstage and get a little more bass. Plus it will add to the comfort, which is a huge plus for the...- ctlaurin

It doesn't look like rds is responding. People have personal lives, I know, but oh well. I do know some woodworking people that I think would do the job right. They may even go as far as to make some nice wood cups. But my next question is, how much is the shipping/customs crap to ship from...- ctlaurin

Good Alternative To My M50's????
From what I understand it's that the cup is a little bigger on the improved ones. People seem to like them and do notice a difference that is worth the $10, though I did buy the original model. I don't feel like I could recommend the MS-1's over the SR60i since I have never owned or even...- ctlaurin

Good Alternative To My M50's????
I recently took a step in the direction that you are thinking of going. I have the Sennheisser HD555, ATH M50 and some Alessandro MS-1's (just another Grado) and also the E9/E7 combo. I bought the Senns first, then the M50's. There is a big difference between them being that the Senns are very...- ctlaurin

I just read about 50 pages of this thread. Lots of drama, and great looking cans out there. I posted in the Grado mods thread about acquiring some distancers. I was pointed to rds and I sent him a PM. I am in NA so idk, if he can't make them I think apatN said he would be interested, but I...- ctlaurin

post your grado mods....
I just purchased the Alessandro MS-1 and I am interested in the MS-1000 mod for them. I understand where I can get the GS-1000 pads, but where would I find some distancers? I know Jaben has some incredible cups/distancer kit in both aluminum and wood that they sell, but they are an asian...- ctlaurin

2011 New Year resolutions (headphone wise)
I'm thinking about losing my HD555's and getting some Grados. The ATH-M50's are great for that time I just need to pump bass, but I otherwise just like a smooth rolling bass as I listen to some pretty chill electronic stuff and Pink Floyd. I don't know where to really start with the Grado line...- ctlaurin
