LH Labs Geek Out v2 Discussion Thread
I have quite a few LH Labs devices. Up to now they've worked great. My new 2A won't work with a new Dell Windows 10 laptop. It works just fine on a Windows 7 laptop. The LH Labs driver 3.26 won't work. Windows reports a signature error and says to contact the manufacturer, who hasn't responded...- Brucemck2

The Decware Taboo Mk3 pairs very, very, nicely with the 1000s (and the 800s) ... great tube dimensionality with plenty of bass slam and speed.- Brucemck2

The Schiit Lyr2 pairs well too, and makes it easy to tube roll, but it's not in the same league as the Decware.- Brucemck2

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
The Decware Taboo Mk3 is a killer headphone amp with the HE 1000 cans, and, has three different tubes you can roll with. (I've been trying alternative regulator, input, and output tubes over the last few days and have come to realize that while rolling offers differences, the stock tubes are...- Brucemck2

I have my equipment in one room and my listening environment/chair in another. It's a good 40 foot run. I already have high quality (Audioquest) RCA run in an under floor conduit from the equipment room to my chair. My problem is that now that I have a Decware Taboo Mk3 headphone amp that...- Brucemck2

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread
Getting ready to try some alternative tubes I've purchased in the past for other units ... Can a 12AU7 be used in the Mk3? (I've got a NOS Telefunken I could dig out.) Can an ECC82? (I've got some Gold Lions I could try.) A 6N23 Reflektor? (I used these in a Lyr2.) Thanks ...- Brucemck2

I took delivery of a new Decware Taboo Mk3 today. Even right out of the box, with no burn in, with factory supplied tubes, and without being connected to my HE1000s via the balanced cables, it's a great match for those cans. Highly, highly, recommended pairing. Now I just need to...- Brucemck2

IME the HE1000 isn't remotely bright or strident, and if anything leans towards the warm side when compared to typical audiophile preferences.- Brucemck2

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I swapped out the factory tubes in the Lyr 2 for some new matched Gold Lions. "Liquidity" and "air" improved, plus, there's greater pace and articulation. The newly burned in HE1000's are a nice match with this amp and tube complement. I'll be trying several other tubes over the coming few...- Brucemck2

I swapped out the factory tubes in the Lyr 2 for some new matched Gold Lions, and the HE1000's took another step up in performance ("liquidity" and "air" improved, plus, greater pace and articulation). Very nice cans that show off the capabilities of the system upstream.- Brucemck2

Flare Audio R2PRO Kickstarter campaign
Anyone know where there's some good, very small bore, heat shrink material? If I grasp the cables near the drivers, friction noises further downstream don't propagate. That makes me think that if I can apply some good heat shrink to bind/stiffen the cables up near the ear pieces most of the...- Brucemck2

I like the sonics, but, the cables are extremely sensitive: even minor movement/friction propagates through the units. Is there some sort of mod that would make these less sensitive to cable induced noise?- Brucemck2
