Have EL34 and 6V6 pairs = possible OTL headamp?
haha mr frank, running all four of them in a headamp might require a ventilated room and a 5-meter headphone cable. ill go OT for a while, are all motor caps PIO? ive seen many of those in a local hardware store at about 45-55uf?- hi-fiber

open versus closed volumes
not to mention the isolation provided by closed headphones... playing grados inside malls? fahgettabouttit... i get headaches the bass leaks out and youre bombarded by high frequencies. but of course, i love my grado... at home and/or at work.- hi-fiber

i would agree that 40W is too much... i felt that my 30W was already too much. but of course, with a steady hand, you can make it work. i was tempted to pull the wire so that i wont overheat the thin voice-coil wire. but i backed up i might tear the voice coil by any sudden movements.- hi-fiber

work in a well-ventilated area... dont inhale fumes. even though they contain only small amounts of lead. a small air blower out of a brushless fan is good enough. better yet, an exhaust fan. dont smoke or eat while soldering, lead stains in your fingers may get into your food. you...- hi-fiber

ATTN Grado lovers! Need a hand making a decision.
it does not necessarily *improve* the sound quality but the LOD bypasses the built-in headphone amp that are retards the sound quality thus preserving the very good quality coming from the digital-to-analog converter... oh i didnt read this "Anyway, I'm leaning toward the SR125's because...- hi-fiber

ATTN Grado lovers! Need a hand making a decision.
i think theres not much difference between the 125 and 80, but if you can extend your budget go for the 225 there i know youll hear big improvements... when i was shopping for cans, i tried both the sr80 - 225 demo units... i bought the 80. im very happy with my modified sr80...- hi-fiber
