Two great new headphones added to the collection...Sennheiser HD580's and Grado HF-1's!
And my HF-1's have arrived! They are pretty much exactly what I expected -- a similar sound to my SR-225's, but more refined and smoother, without sacrificing detail or clarity. Porcupine Tree (one of my favorite bands) sound absolutely stunning. Pics to come!- jersey_emt

Two great new headphones added to the collection...Sennheiser HD580's and Grado HF-1's!
After listening to the HD580's for several hours over the past day, my current impressions agree with my initial impressions. The sound is warm, round, smooth, and 'effortless' (and enhanced by the higher level of comfort compared to my Grados and AKG K701's). However, this does not come free...- jersey_emt

Are these good specs for a pair of cans?
Specs mean nothing. You can have two headphones with exactly the same specs but sound widely different. You can also have headphones with 'worse' specs but which sound miles better than one with 'better' specs.- jersey_emt

First tube amp: Little Dot MkIII, Little Dot MkIV, or Darkvoice 336i?
The Darkvoice 336i arrived yesterday around lunchtime. I installed the stock tubes, powered her up, and had a listen with my Grado SR225's. I am very impressed. If I had to choose only one word to describe the sound, it would be 'fluid'. I'm working from home today so I unfortunately cannot...- jersey_emt

Etymotic cable from APureSound
I ended up purchasing an APS cable from a fellow Head-Fier. 'P' cable, 4 feet long, standard connector. Take this with a grain of salt as I do not have a (working) stock cable to do A/B tests. After several days I am quite impressed with the APS cable. Bass is markedly increased, but still...- jersey_emt

First tube amp: Little Dot MkIII, Little Dot MkIV, or Darkvoice 336i?
Well, I finally took the plunge. I have just purchased a Darkvoice 336i from a fellow Head-Fi member, and it is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday (04/29/2008). Also included are a bunch of additional tubes: Front: NOS Tung sol, Ken Rad 6S7NGT, Sylvania 6SA7NGTA, RCA 6S7NGTB Rear...- jersey_emt

need to substitute a BOSE
If someone truly likes the way Bose products sound, who's to say that they are 'wrong'? The OP did get his friend to try a 'better' set of cans but for him, they weren't (better). Let the guy buy his Bose headphones and be happy with them, and focus your concerns on making YOU happy.- jersey_emt

Already have and love HD595...where to next?
My vote goes for the Grado SR-225. If you can spring for the SR-325i then definitely go there. Suggestion: Buy used here on the forums. If you are one of the people who simply don't care for the Grado house sound, you can sell them for what you paid, and you're only out the shipping costs. If...- jersey_emt

I have both the Etymotic ER-4P and the Shure E500 but want to only own 1 IEM. Help me decide please!
As the title says, I am the proud owner of two excellent IEM's: the Shure E500 and the Etymotic ER-4P (with a P-S adaptor cable). However, in an effort to conslidate my headphone collection I am looking to own only a single IEM. The problem is that I love both of these IEM's. The highs and...- jersey_emt

Etymotic cable from APureSound
The right channel on my ER-4P's is cutting in and out because of a loose connection in the cable, so I need a new cable.
